QUOTE(super_evil_alien @ Oct 27 2010, 04:07 PM) What kind of "issue"? the app does not launch.Later I want to try mod the transition to be faster a bit.Current one perform well but I need it to open things faster. just quits when u launch. reboot also same... not compatible with PR1.3 ? transitioncontrol uses the whole lot of python for QT. maybe something broke the compatibility... lazy to go and edit transitions.ini manually... |

QUOTE(porselinaheart @ Oct 27 2010, 05:47 PM) googled a bit, found out that QT has been ported to run on webOS by some dev, but couldn't find any news abt further development. Also found story on engadget abt webos users trying to port Xorg and run open office, but that was pretty old as well, QT is the future if everyone plays nice...soon it will be on all platforms... like JAVA |

QUOTE(porselinaheart @ Oct 28 2010, 01:22 AM) yea, its like that... even ubuntu does not support flash and mp3 out of the box... they wanna remain 100% open source and not include anything that requires a license... Added on October 28, 2010, 5:37 am QUOTE(porselinaheart @ Oct 28 2010, 01:47 AM) so i'll have to build Meego in Ubuntu or Fedora.... damn, i only have a copy of Mint yea, mint is based off ubuntu anyway. This post has been edited by jananan: Oct 28 2010, 05:37 AM |

QUOTE(mashimarow @ Oct 28 2010, 07:43 AM) off topic question:- extras, extras-testing and extras-devel are repositories. 1)what's the difference of extras, extras-devel and extras-testing? 2)sometimes I see XXX.armel.deb and xxx.i386.deb file together, what's the difference? both need to be download together? thanks simply said, extras - apps that have been tested ok, no major issues extras-testing - apps that are waiting to be moved to extras, might have some issues still but wont crash your system entirely extras-devel - installing apps from here might cause your system to crash, unable to boot, meaning not many people tested it but so far i have never faced issues installing apps from extras-testing or extras-devel make sure to read first and research about the app before installing just a quick look at tmo forum or googling about that app will help you identify possible issues armel = ARM platform i386 = PC platform you dont need to download the i386 deb. |

2 files inside the transitions.zip
1transitions.ini - no slow transitions, other slightly animated indicators when you touch buttons and menus are still there. 2transitions.ini - totally no animation. no effects at all when you touch buttons and menus. (extreme settings) rename to transitions.ini and replace the file /usr/share/hildon-desktop/transitions.ini Added on October 28, 2010, 9:58 amyeah, remember to backup the original transitions.ini just in case you dont like my unanimated plain looking stuff. QUOTE(bagata @ Oct 28 2010, 10:37 AM) thanks super_evil_alien, downloaded the application already. it depends. 7% cpu usage when running @ 250Mhz is okis 7% CPU usage on idle is normal? how can i trace the background running program? lets say you OC to 900Mhz and it takes up 7% then something might be wrong. so always see what is your processor clock speed in Mhz when it says 7%. installing conky would be a good idea. |

"For average users this is technical mumbo jumbo, but for those who're interested this is a very interesting article. thats all i needed to know... and thats why maemo/meego will always be one step higher than android (and many steps highers that crappy iOS and WP7) (come on, WP7 features looks like it was designed from someone in the year 1999) |

but seriously, are you guys not liking the zero animation transitions file ?
since i dont run many stuff on my n900, everything is almost instant. on slower phones, the smoother transitions does buy some times while its launching the apps. but on faster devices, transitions just slow things down. |

QUOTE(meLi @ Oct 28 2010, 01:19 PM) i tried on my phone, it does not reboot itself. 1transitions just had some minor changes in duration values. no major changes. e.g. instead of some animation taking 300ms i set it to 200ms. it should not cause reboots. 2transitions is really tweaked, removed all unnecessary stuff. |

QUOTE(meLi @ Oct 28 2010, 01:55 PM) manage to remove and replace transitions.ini quickly god...it working now. I'm using WinSCP try to many many time to quickly login and replace the file. At last can replace transitions.ini now my device back to normal fuhhh.... weird... so 2transitions.ini crashes or not ? since 2transitions.ini is he zero animation file. i tried both on my n900, does not crash or reboot. are you running ULV kernel ? maybe some transitions use more power ? it is possible. |
