My friend was up and coming actress, she and her friends came from a famous university college Performing Arts and Media Faculty to audition for this role. I am sorry being obscure but it was her request to keep it anonymous.
*

Well it's not like anybody here will recognise her... She has to speak english for this role correct?

wat. u wan the anime to show things like keris n all the bs like daun pisang?

1 - Anything is always the govt fault, no matter what
2 - Any animation that is done locally should follow 100% Japanese

This is an animated series, albeit even with Gonzo's help, is first and foremost for the local market. And for the local market, they need a local flavour. And not all locals are into Japanese animation, no matter what you weeboes think. Will it work with a local storyline formula? It might. Keluang Man showed that before that local animation with local storyline works.

Besides, I always see broadswoard, gattling gun, and other non Japanese weapons in anime. So is Keris so wrong that it can't even be featured in an anime that showcases a local character?

For me this is the real reason that Malaysian animation fails. People tend to overlook what local wants, and instead expect it to be a copy pasta from another country.

this is going to be a kids anime right?

with a good storyline this might work.

the director already have his work cut out for him by the govt and i doubt he understand / cares about written m'sian history.

imo, the writer(s) creativity can make or break this project.

That is a sign of a bad director really

I just went through 9 pages THE FUC-

Anyway, get Kazuya Nakai to voice Hang Jebat if there are Japanese dubs and I'll care.
NEIN! It needs to be a slice-of-life anime with Kana Asumi in it.

so hows chewing on ur own words doing for you? (ps: you could've not posted that anyways. w)

of course, it is EASY to criticize. however you do realize that our harsh fact of reality does allow the consumer to do w/e they f***ing pleases, and its up to to the "creators" to live up to their expectation, or fail and get ignored/criticized into oblivion.

it sucks, i know. but thats just it friggin works and theres no other way around it.

for me, personally, if its getting good words about it, i may care and watch it for it being good and what not. not about me being patriotic (heh) and support our local industry, or if its malaysian or japanese animation/anime w/e. tldr: good = watch, bad = no watch. simple as that.

Local and not weebo. Most of the kids/people I talked to who is not into Japanese anime does not really find it appealing. And as I said, before, why does Keluang Man succeed that even now people are talking about it? Because it's local and it made fun of local culture. For your information I take back what I said about this anime, NOT what I said about what we need to do.

i meant that in general terms anyways (be it cars LOL POTONG or smart phones HAHA CSL) but still, i am local, and i am merely pointing out that what you said (quoted and bolded) is very much untrue. had you said local and weaboo earlier, sure, thats passable. however you did not, and that's that.

and FYI anyways, doesnt matter on what we need to do. if even the creators are speaking ill of their own creation, shit sure isnt going to have a bright turnout in any case unless something drastic happens. ain't it FRIGGIN obvious? japanese wanna continue their usual anime shit japanese way, and our gahmen claims its not malay enough. when 2 guys want to do 2 things for ONE single outcome, you know it aint turning out well.

someone's gotta give in, and it looks like gonzo (not that i am siding of them anyways, f***ing gg'd mah BB:CS cutscenes) is having the short end of it while being the side thats leading in the industry.

i mean, yeah, you can be patriotic and all, but when shit are THIS obvious, you know you can't just put blames on gonzo bellying up and f***ing up. sides, for all the f***ups the gahmen has done, its really a whole lot EASIER to point fingers at them.

Problem is when you assume too much. Much as I love to read all the bloody conspiracy theory, not everything is because of the government. As Steno said before, Upin and Ipin was a profitable animation series locally, and guess what? The people that watched it is not just the Malays either. 6 million profit on a LOCAL animated feature is not a small value. So it shows that there are markets for local content.
