Will be getting my hands on 3820TG by tomorrow! ^^

First thing, how to make a backup DVD, if I don't have internal/external DVD drive?

guys....

Just wondering is it possible to buy a 4820TG without the windows 7? as in it's a blank hdd or just msdos and then they give the drivers/bloatware on a separate CD?

Coz i'm planning to install winXP, Vista, 7 x86, 7 x64. is it possible?

3 options:

1) Easiest is to borrow one! Or buy one, at one point, you may still need to use DVD right?

2) If not possible, get software such Virtual CD that has capability to virtually burn cd into ISO.

3) No need to burn. All the backup stuff is already in the Recovery Partition in your hardisk. If you ever need to recover it to factory setting, just press Alt-F10 during boot up. There is risk if you have hardisk failure....

avg boot time is around 60-70 seconds after using the defragmenter...

i tried on the driver sweeper last night and ran into several bluescreen in discrete mode. I managed to solve it by going into safe mode (discrete mode) and update the ati driver automatically in device manager. the artifact is fixed last night while playing cxl2011 under the switchable mode

Yes. You can create / delete partition during Windows installation. Careful not to delete the Recovery Partition.

Are you u only want 50GB in C. My Windows folder is already 22GB. There are some files that will simply wont go to any other driver other than C...

I stop using multiple partition long ago. I find it's easier to just backup stuff into my external HDD. Just a suggestion.

Hi guys, i'm interested to get a 3820TG soon.

However, should i be considering or waiting for other options as well?

The plan is to get a 13-inch with quite okay specs for below 2.5k, gonna need the mobility n portability to use on the go, and while at home i'm gonna hook it up wit a lcd n mouse keyboard etc.

I can roughly guess the answers as i'm asking this question in this thread, but a lil assurance or honest opinions might just really help! biggrin.gif

Been using this notebook for 5 months now, still very impressive. Carry it with me everywhere I go. Really light on the backpack, no problem opening it up and start using it anywhere I want; on a small coffee table, on the lap, on the floor, in a flight, on the sofa, etc... u get the idea... it's smaller size and thinner dimension allow you to easily use it.

I really recommend you to get this since the new TimelineX will no longer has dual fan system. Although the new 3830tg will still have better spec.

As of now, 3820tg is still the most powerful 13" and below notebook...

hmm, for da price i guess it cant be beaten, value-wise?

the i3 is only a dual core right? needa use da laptop for at least 3 years, wont have any budget left for a newer laptop

currently using studio 15 wit p8400 n ati 4570, it will not be a downgrade in any sense right?

Thanks for the reply smile.gif, really appreciate it.

I have just went to HP Malaysia's site to check out the drivers , am a little confused, as they put Intel's Turbo Boost in their Graphic Drivers section , along with a 'packaged' install, which installs both AMD and Intel Graphic drivers together which means its not compatible with my system, no? icon_question.gif

Thought of trying it out, but the last time i did that, messed up the drivers badly.. laugh.gif

You can't resize using the recovery disc, you would need to use Windows disc to that...
Or you do it inside Windows..

ok so i've seen from here that it's not possible to manage/resize/delete/create partitions when doing a recovery from the recovery partition/recovery dvd right?

It's only possible to mess with the partition when installing windows from a normal windows boot cd aka pirated or generic ones bought from outside right?

So if I install from the normal windows CD, does acer provide a CD with drivers? not necessary the latest but usable ones.

No cd with driver given, but you can burn it from the recovery if not mistaken...
