I'm planning on buying a 2003 honda city ( the idsi type ) but i'm not sure about the car. Then only thing i knw is it has a lower fc compare to the vtec type 2003 city. Can some honda city 2003 owners or anyone give me some information on its maintenance fee and its second-hand price? thanks..... notworthy.gif

plenty of discussion over the forum all these years, make use of the search button.

anyway, like any other ordinary cars, maintenance is not pricey even if OEM parts (but dont expect the same price as kancil or wira).

few things to take note:
1) idsi has 8 spark plugs, twice as many as normal 4 cylinder cars. replacement cost twice as much, u do the math.
2) potential of getting a near faulty tranny. few batches of 2003's tranny were fed with ATF by honda, until few mths later (or a year) only honda came out thier own CVTF which is actually idemitsu.
3) always & only use CVTF on your tranny.
4) if u got shitty luck & got a problematic tranny, replacing a new one cost 22k.
5) seriously underpower. its nothing cheerful driving tis thing. merely consider OK if u drive alone, but with few passengers & some load onboard.... u will be hating urself of getting this car.

if u like the old city so much, get a vtec. FC moderate. plenty of ponies for a 1.5L 2003 model.

cvt tranny dont have to get new 1, get 1 from the chop shop is good enough.

and yeah, have to agree that idsi feels like a myvi 1.0 or a kancil 850cc.. damn underpower. If i were you, i rather get the vtec version.

You take MyVI 1.0L and vs City 1.5 IDSI at the red light..
and both of them floor the accelerator...

I see who will have the last laugh..
Obviously the MYVI will see City's smoke.
Don't say MYVI 1.0L will lose..even Alphard 3.0L v6 also will lose at red light.

Belum cuba, belum tau. Sudah cuba, hari2 pun mau..

city is an everyday saloon car. its all about practicality & penny saving (good FC).

if u benchmark any vehicle performance by drag racing at traffic light, then its better just to get a 2 stroke 150cc bike that smoked 90% of any other vehicle on the road.

u sure? i tried that b4. myvi 1.0 and city idsi 1.5 side by side with each other... no offence to city owners. I also own a city idsi 1.5, thats why i dare to say its underpower.

I dare to stand on my claims. I usually drop the gear into S when want to test 0-100. No point leave it in D when want to drag with people.
