Hi Guys ,

Whenever we are watching a DVD / Downloadad movie on my 32" LG LH20 lcd tv there is always a black bar at the top and bottom
If i use the zoom on the tv then i cant get all the subtitles

Whys is the happening in the first place ? (thought all movies are in the 16:9 ratio ?
How to avoid it

Use 16:9 widescreen setting on DVD player option. Use zoom function on DVD player instead. smile.gif

For some media player, you can actually position the subtitles a bit up or down smile.gif

And no...not many movies are in 16:9..most are 1.85:1 and 2.39:1, 1.78:1 biggrin.gif

here we go again.

do not adjust your set, only some movies are 16:9, for the rest you will get black bars at top and bottom.

Which media players can position subtitles ? ( doesnt it depend on the movie , not the player ?)

movie aspect ratio depends on the movie itself. the player can only zoom it.

No.. instead of top & bottom black box, you'll get right and left black box.. but
this definitely solve TS problem.. the top & bottom pillar box issues..

*sigh*

actually when someone says pillar box, they mean the left and right black bars (pillars are vertical)

I think "pillar box" is the widely accepted terms in the TV world for black bars to the left and right of the picture on a widescreen TV

the top and bottom bars are just "top and bottom bars"
