Hi lilyzhaowei,

My wife is planning to give birth at SJMC as well. She's attempting a VBAC (Fingers crossed) as we are to only find out after MRI as advised by Dr. Dato Siti if her hips are strong enough for natural birth.

Don't mind me asking if you'd mentioned that it's 3k for a normal birth without vacuum, forceps or epi, simply being induced (Once or twice), does it include the costs for whatever it is they do to the baby?

I just need a clear picture of total costs involved with everything if you don't mind,

Thanks in advance ya.

My wife recent delivery at SDMC early Dec 2013

Wife Rm5.6k - Dr Fong (vacuum, episiotomy and epidural)
Baby Rm800 - Dr Sofiah
Single Bedded 2D (single) + 1D (labour room)

Pro -

1) Nurse quite helpful in teaching everything from breastfeeding to wrapping the baby...
2) Recommend Breastfeed first priorty
3) Food just so-so

Con -

1) Some night shift nurse and mid-wife is less patient compare to early shift.
Lilyzhaowei, just wonder why your cost much more lower than mine?

My wife is planning to give birth there too, just wondering what the total cost is.

Hi everyone.

Just sharing the experience from my wife and myself as she delivered at SJMC (Previously known as SDMC) on the 19-Mar 14.

We actually intended to deliver our baby girl via elective Csect on the 21st, gynae Dr. Siti Zaliha told us that it would cost around RM8,000.00 with pead cost. However a RM10,000.00 deposit is required upon check-in on the available date.

However my wife went into labour a few days earlier, and it was in the middle of the morning. Therefore an emergency csect was performed on her (Which was dangerous as she had her meal 3 hours prior to the emergency csec surgery) sometime 6am in the morning. Seeing that this was an emergency and gynae had to wake up in odd hours to perform the surgery, the bill totalled to RM 12,000.00 (I had to place a deposit still after they delivered our baby girl) with paed costs.

I highly recommend SJMC for anybody who's planning to give birth in a private hospital here.

Dr. Siti Zaliha is a very talented gynae that's for sure.

Our daughter's paed too, Dr. Angelina is also very good at what she does - her advise is very modernised unlike many of the paeds around.

Feel free to PM me if you need more info on delivering at SJMC and good luck to all to those who are about to deliver soon smile.gif

Why are more ppl opt for c sect nowadays?

Most women these days fear the pains of being in labour and birth itself... that's why they opt for csec. Plus elective csecs are always cheaper than emergency csecs!

Recently I've got friend's whose wives delivered csec due to;

1. Breech Baby
2. Takut sakit rclxub.gif rclxub.gif rclxub.gif
3. Lack of amniotic fluid
4. My wife herself delivered csec cos her pelvic bones are very cramp according the MRI scan which can cause fetal distress
