Just want to share that my wife just gave birth to a baby girl last Wednesday at SDMC (previously known as SJMC). We used Dr Lee Say Fatt (Obstetrics & Gynaecology).
Total cost for delivery, lab, room and consultation for mum and baby is about RM3500. No epidural but just injection and gas for pain relief...really salute my wife... notworthy.gif

i'm just recently deliver in government hospital sultan abdul halim, sungai petani kedah. of course government price is very cheap where cost under rm250. nurses are friendly. service of 4 meals a day. many young doctors are performing delivery and have experienced nurses around, the advantage is young doctors they handle gently and soft, but the disadvantage is sometimes they unsure to make decision of some situation. Example, they unsure whetther want to give me epidural injection due to unstable of the baby's heartbeat. but somehow, the nurses will patrolling two times at night and they will guiding you on how to take care your baby.

for the experience doctor, they somehow do things with very "cincai" attitude. when i was called for examine my wound due to episiotomy, he just insert his finger and korek korek without caring your fresh wound is injured or not. i just endure the pain till my tears fallling.  vmad.gif
at first i want to deliver at private hospital, but i heard several cases that they sometimes have no doctor available or u have any complication during delivery, they will send you to government. hearing that is really fearing me to risk my life to deliver in private. rclxub.gif

i can give a thumbs up for this government hospital because of their new equipment, good services and facilities. but no to old doctors...

Congrats. on your newborn smile.gif RM250...damn cheap! It's true that experienced doctors are usually seem very "cincai" because they are so experienced that they have "seen it all", so in a way is although you think they are cincai, but they still know what they are doing...my wife's gyne was also like that but he's very good and whateva her told us in advance, really came to pass. During the delivery, he was still chit chatting with the nurse about the Empire Shopping Centre's explosion that happened that morning (our hospital SJMC is very near to the scene)...but when the action almost started, they were very focused on my baby's natural delivery. smile.gif

On stories where people are sent to government hospitals (GH) if there's any complication during delivery, very unlikely because you're already in the midst of delivery and it makes no sense to transfer you to a hospital halfway which is very risky.....(not sure about the ones in Kedah but the ones in KL have very experienced doctors which justifies the very high fees). There is no doubt that the equipments in government hospitals are the best because they are bought with tax payer's money smile.gif And there is no doubt we do have good nurses and doctors in GH....but the work load is so much higher in GH that many of the staff are simply demotivated or tired....so the equipment is just as good as the person using it at that moment smile.gif

once again, congrats and enjoy your new born!

If I'm not wrong you will require a medical card from the Government hospital so the best is to do your last few check ups at your home town's government clinic...if not, not sure will there be any delay if you directly do admission on the delivery day...I could be wrong..any one with such experience?

Hi is this figure rm4k-6k include the whole pregnant till birth charge? Or only whie deliver?

Cos when pregnant oso need go chekc up and everything they will charge separate?

How much total cost from pregnant till deliver?
*
WintersuN, rm4k-6k inclusive of all prenatal checkup sessions and delivery charge??? This figure estimation is quite impossible at most "famous" private hospital.. furthermore we're talking about Sunway hospital here smile.gif that price stated is for delivery alone (plus the standard mother and baby care stuffs after delivery) you gotta budget separately for each check up during pregnancy... About 100 - 200 each visit (or even more if you go to expensive hospitals and optional tests such as down syndrome check etc excluded) Checkup is monthly once until the final month which will be then weekly, or maybe more if require by doctor for those with special condition. To amswer your question, you will be charged after each checkup, separately. No one lump sum except for the delivery bill.

so expensive!! if dun go for famous private hospital ok? cheaper private hospital can get 4k-6k for all including check ups?
*
urm...it's your choice and it depends on your budget? Cheapest is definitely Government hospital. Cheaper Private you can opt for Pantai, Sri Kota Klang or other smaller delivery centres. Have you read through this thread? If no I suggest you to read all 14 pages since many people share their experience and total cost for delivery. There's no one answer. Different people may have different experiences with certain hospital/clinics, like some had bad experiences in highly recommended hospitals and doctors too smile.gif

yeah that's the surprising thing about Prince Court Medical Centre. Everyone was having the impression that this hospital is very pricy (or rather, hoax going on saying that it's a expensive private hopsital) I'll give it a try for our next baby! wink.gif

I rather" Suffer wallet ". Seeing my wife gone through pregnancy, I think it's the most beautiful but most challenging sacrifice she had made too. smile.gif

Hi, anyone has experience delivering at Sime Darby Medical Center (previously known as Subang Jaya Medical Center)?

I'm currently seeing Dr. Tang Boon Nee and plan to deliver there. This is my first baby and I really would like d experience to b as less nerve wrecking as possible.

Famous and very experienced doctor, but expect extremely long waiting queue and rushed consultation due to the long list of patients in queue.
So my and my wife would rather go for another Gynae that can spend more time explaining the questions and concerns we have, which we did smile.gif

As for delivering, we had a very good experience with the Midwife and nurses here. Very helpful, understanding and patient. Room, facilities and food quality are acceptable, just don't expect a 5 star treatment like some of the more expensive hospitals around smile.gif
