Thats quite reasonable for that place(not that i can afford now  )
Btw i've heard deliveries at HUKM are very affordable and the service is good.

Is it true that the private hospital will charge both sides if we were planning for natural birth but ended up doing c-sec?

Who knows what could go wrong... i dont know, but i think spending a little extra money on the mother and babys safety is more important than saving and looking for cheaper alternatives.
Of course not everyone has the money to spend since delivering a baby is very expensive at most places. But who ever said that having a baby/ babies was cheap right...
Im not trying to put down or criticize anyone for going to non private hospitals, clinics or GH (cheapest i think) Im just saying, if u have the money, dont think twice, if money is a problem, then there isnt really much choice.
In the end... like i said, having a baby is not cheap, neither is raising a baby>>> child. So do be prepared for everything thats ahead.

Agree with you both. Everyone comes from all walks of life, different wants and needs.

But i wasn't saying that expensive = safety at all, sorry if what i wrote was misunderstood. I've also experienced bad treatment in a private/ expensive hospital. Tis why i will not go back there, even if it's just for a small matter.
I didn't know about this " if you are looking gynae who eventually the only one to help you for the whole pregnancy process, then your only choice is private hospital or engage a private doctor. This is not the case for GH   " -So thanks for pointing that out

Even if you have a lot of money, but your situation is very serious, they will still request you go to GH, cuz they have all the advanced gears and equipments. So i'm definitely not saying that if you have/ or don't have the money dont go here or there and vice versa etc. What i mean is that everyone should be wise and choose carefully when having a baby, the money needed to support, choosing a gynae/ doc, clinic, hospital etc.

Sometimes if you feel that the doc/ gynae that you are seeing is not right for you and doesn't match what you require, it's best to change i guess.

My own sister had terrible experience with HUKM, it was really nightmare and nobody would believe with the what she had experienced there. At first we thought HUKM is a half government/half private hospital and the price is 'quite' reasonable and near to her house, so decided to go to this hospital instead of other private hospital.

During the few hours of her contraction, the doctor brought few students into the room and let them monitor when the doctor is examine my sister, which made my sister feel very embarrassed showing her private part to strangers(not doctor/nurse). During her delivery complications occurs which doctor decided to use forceps, i'm not sure whether it's the doctor who is not experience enough or what, eventually there are some tears inside the vaginal caused by the forceps, so stitching had to be done inside the vaginal, and guess what, stitching was done pretty bad that cause heavy bleeding after my sister was sent back to room to rest.

We were quite shocked to see the heavy bleeding after the surgery and called the nurse to check on my sister few time during mid night, the nurse didn't say/do much but just to change the pad for my sister. Until my sister almost fainted then only the nurse call the doctor to come to hospital. So second stitching was done again.

My sister rested in hospital for 1 day before she went back home. She kept on complaining that her vaginal was very painful so we thought it's the stitching that cause the pain and she did take pain killer. Until 2-3 days later when we saw blood clogs coming out from the vaginal (big blood clog) and she fainted eventually, we sent her to another private hospital to consult another doctor, then only we found out my sister was not prescribed with anti-biotics in HUKM!! which caused the wound to infect and swollen and bleed. Again, my sister had to go through another surgery to stitch the tears inside the vagina by the private hospital doctor. We didn't have the time to go back to HUKM to investigate whether the doctor didn't prescribe the anti-biotic OR the pharmacist missed out on the anti-biotics that prescribed by the doctor, but we are really really disappointed with what happened in HUKM which i think it's very unacceptable!

Just to share my experience here, I have been going to Columbia Asia Puchong for my checkup's with Dr Silvam, I agree with Swee Boon, Dr Silvam is a very friendly doctor to have and he shares alot of information and is always ready to answer any queries.

One thing that I've heard from all my other mummy friends are the time consuming checkup's that they have experienced with other hospitals, I'm glad I chose Columbia Asia Puchong because I didn't have to wait very long at all for my appointment!

Let's say my appointment is scheduled at 10.45am, I will normally arrive around 10.35am and submit my appointment card to the front desk, proceed with the usual urine test, weight check and blood pressure check. That usually takes less than 10 minutes to complete.

Once I'm done with the tests, I'll just have to sit for no longer than 5 minutes and my name will be called! 

Normally my appointment ends within an hour from the time it starts so it's very efficient I must say!

Well for my usual checkup's, it's RM 85 everytime  but when I reached the end of my first trimester, I did the blood test and the bill totaled to RM 160+, so far everything has been quite reasonable!

I always parked outdoors or sometimes by the roadside of Columbia Asia Puchong when there's no parking

These days, the price for check up at private institution not cheap. At government clinic still ok, but have to queue up la.

My wife delivered our baby girl early July at Columbia Asia Puchong. With C-sect, 3 days 2 night in 2 bed room [ I did ask for single room but all fully occupied even the ISO room] the total cost  = RM7200..  RM6kplus for my wife and all, RM1k plus for the baby under the nursery care during those 3d 2n. Our Gynae was Dr Selvam and boy, what a wonderful doctor he is.

  During pregnancy checkup, the charge only between RM60-RM85. Take note that, if you go for C-Sect, you are required to pay RM4k as deposit. For normal delivery only RM1500.

I've elective c-section at PCMC under Dr Paul Tay. Before delivery, he told me that it'll cost RM8.5k for 3D2N. When I delivered in June 2012, my bill for 4D3N is only RM8.5k without complication, in a premier room with sofa bed (for my husband), safe deposit box, coffee and tea facilities and toiletries.

I opted to continue my stay at PCMC after Day 4, as my baby has a mild jaundice and he was under the photo therapy for 24 hours.

As first time parents, my DH and I want to be more comfortable with our baby and need more help/guidance. So we continued our stay until Day 13 before we went home. Total bill is RM15k, still better than our expected budget which is at RM20k.

Dr Paul did suggest a cheaper room (they called it a lodger) however my DH didn't want to change room, so we stick to the premier room until we discharged.

PCMC is babies friendly hospital, which practices baby in-room with mummy and supports breast feeding. As my milk supply is low, I had to sign a consent form each time to authorize the nursery staff to give formula milk to my baby. The nursery staff will also come and check on the baby every 4-5 hours to make sure I breast feed my baby, how many times the baby passes urine or stool, etc.

I'll go back to PCMC again to deliver my next baby. Highly recommended!
Dr Tang is my first choice for gynae (I've done pap smear under her), however her queue is super long (average 2 hours per visit). My sister and my cousin had delivered their babies naturally under Dr Tang. My DH couldn't stand the queue even though he likes Dr Tang a lot. At the end, we choose Dr Paul Tay at PCMC and each visit is less than an hour. His nurse will call to inform us if he had emergency c-sect or delivery, so we will be kept waiting.

PCMC, my wife deliver last month rm2k deposit for normal delivery.

My deposit for elective C-Section is RM8.5k, and the last I asked, the deposit for normal delivery is RM5k (same as Akrami).

If I'm not mistaken, Dr Lai is not servicing at PCMC (Prince Court Medical Centre). Maybe you've mistaken PCMC as Pantai Hospital 

I just delivered my boy 7 month ago at Hospital Putrajaya,emergency c-section. 3 days 4 night,total bill RM 1200.
