Hey all, my wife is a foreigner and she hasn't gotten her PR.

As I know few years back Gov has increased the price of medical care for foreigners without PR status, even though spouse is Malaysian.

Anyone has any information how much does it cost for a foreigner to deliver a baby in gov hospital now? Eg: UMMC / Putrajaya Hospital

Because I was contemplating if the cost to deliver a baby in Gov hospital is so high for a foreigner, might as well go for Private like Sunway Medical / Columbia / KPJ for a more comfortable environment overall.

Also I got a flyer at Sunway medical centre, they're having a promo now and normal delivery cost about RM3,500 - RM4,500, valid until 31st Dec 2018. Excluding some doctor consultation & specialist charges though.

better call the hospital to find out the cost, or check if they published the pricing on their website.

also, its better to stick with the same doctor that perform regular checkup on your wife, if your wife pregnancy got any complication then the delivery cost will be different at those private hospital which will be much more expensive than govt hospital for foreigners

those fancy private hospital tend to charge higher

the charges at HKL you may refer their website
http://www.hkl.gov.my/index.php/advanced-s...ospital-charges

My wife has just delivered in sep at Tung Shin by Dr Chuah BP, normal delivery, 6d5n stays in single room, total 8k plus
Highly recommend Dr Chuah, but you need to be patience with long queue during checkup.

Delivered on 15/9/2017 in Hospital Serdang.

5 days stay + emergency C-sec + baby spent 2 days in NICU
Total spent RM2xx

It's cheap but I had a bad experience here because the maternity ward is overcrowded, until I had to spend my first 30 hours in the waiting hall. My first night there was spent sleeping on the couch :'(

I just checked with UMMC, Normal delivery with 3 days ward is between RM800 - RM1,200 and RM500 deposit. For foreigner, the charge is double.

You may top up to this section if you have more information.

Cheers!

Hi , I've got many friends register just for the red book then skip the check up.
I myself urge my wife to check gov and private , because the private hospital is 2 1/2 hours away , so in case if there is emergency , I can go to government hospital, also take note if you planning to give birth at private clinic, if there is anything complicated , they will send u to gov hospital as well . Btw gov hospital save up a lot of my money, all of check ups, jects are FOC, and my private hospital doctor will just refer to the red book.

Hi, may I know what’s red book?

Just delivered on Sunday at Tung Shin Kuala Lumpur under Dr. Chua Bee Poh.

Natural delivery.

Mother's cost: About 4.5k (single room)
Baby's cost: About 1.2k
Stayed 1 night only.

All the senior nurses are good, 1 of the junior nurses was rough, rude and inconsiderate.

Those with more than 2 kids type mostly go to govt, which the charges is only RM25 total bill for delivery.

I was told that Malay thinks that more kids, more rezeki but you can see they have very poor health and hygiene. Poor parents not educated, it is only the rich Malays benefited from them by leveraging on racial politics. ---And all these innocent Malays just blindly believe and follow
Prices of delivery is not that expensive. You can get mid range class between RM5k to RM8k. However, it is the confinement centres are the ones with the most price jack up. As you may already know, confinement centres in Klang Valley can easily cost you RM8k to RM26k for 28 days.

If you can find RM7k, it's like the cheapest ever! so, most people goes outskirt a bit to seremban or nilai those area where at RM7k, you can get mid range class meals.

Appreciate all your respond. Tq.

Cousin told me the pain relief for c-sec delivery is better at semi/private hosp compared to full government hosp (comparing her experience with her friends). Normal delivery should be the same I think.
That being said, I gave birth at PPUKM (Hukm) - semi government. Caesarean by choice (baby was breech anyway), 4d4n, 24 hours in Hdu (i had massive bleeding), with epidural, oxygen povernight (had low oxygen for awhile) + 1bag of blood but baby is well and healthy, after surgery meds and vitamins - RM2.3k.

And they gave me a prescription for the most powerful pain killer that I don't really remember the after surgery pain much. The nurses there were wonderful (except for 2 that were quite condescending). All in all, not a very bad experience.
