RM40K from a single income provider, if you live moderately is very very more than enough la for Malaysians. These fellas here does not know there are expats working in malaysia as SEA company managers that are earning RM25K monthly. Yet they can afford penthouse in slight outskirts of KL.

Just today I saw a small kompeni's financial and audit report - from what I can see, the kompeni got 3 workers with salary. All 3 are shareholders, 2 of them are directors.

The director tak ada director's fee - but daaaaaaaaaaaaaaymmmmmm, over 60k of the kompeni money goes to travelling, over 100k of the kompeni's money go to entertainment.

If you're single, then it's enough since you say "decent' lifestyle. If "luxurious" lifestyle den confirm not enough.Make sure Sime Darby offer of RM40k is NETT PAY means company will cover all your taxes. Expatriate taxes are different from local citizen taxes if i'm not mistaken.
