Regarding the comments about the lightsource, its supposed to be coming out from a streetlight. The mood I wanted was a very dark night in the alley. It could be blue tinge if there's no streetlight.
Point taken about the leather and redshirt looking the same. The light source is questionable, but I wanted to put some hilites on the face, ah well guess i have to fix that. Cheekbones are weird, I agree. I didn't have any reference for this, so I guess that's why the errors show. Thanks for the comments guys. |

Thanks guys. I'm not really into portrait work, just trying to get used to the 'painted' look approach. I use a wacom graphire 2, very well used, I might upgrade to the new intuos 3 later on. The pen nib is getting shorter and shorter, sigh. Actually I kinda cheated with the light effects there, as I used Photoshop to adjust the brightness/contrast. The original pic is much softer.

OH MAN, I'd like to be able to do something like that. Since you're good with traditional media, just try Painter and a tablet, shouldn't be too long before you find that its as easy as drawing on paper.
