This is not an "issue"
Most of the manufacturer prevent users from silencing the phone camera sound so no "stalking pictures" can be taken.

If i am not wrong in malaysia law camera phones must have sound and light to show you are taking photos. This is to prevent people to take candid photos. Thats why APAC firmware you cant disable without hacking. If you use european firmware it can be turn off by warning tones.

Correct me if i am wrong.

because Nokia N900 do not have APAC firmware so its not bound by malaysian law.

In N900 we have root access to entire OS system.Making the camera silent is as simple as deleting a .wave file.
Also changing the profile to "silent" mode make the camera shutter silent too.

taking photos in "no camera allow" place mah... like aquarium/muzium/gallery...

Since Symbian went open there should also be some third party explorer for system files.
Maybe you should search for it.

U can either

option 1 -  use your finger to close it
Option 2 - put cellotape

Flash can turn off anytime but we are talking about the sound and a light blink when u take photo

1) depending on firmware
2) Malaysia firmware u unable to turn off as default.
