what's the purpose of unmod it? if the purpose is to go online for Live! service, then you might as well forget it

yes, it's possible to unmod a softmodded xbox360, but once the console is modded, it's already red-flagged by MS based on the console ID, so even after you unmod it, it's still red-flagged as modded in MS database

So it's just a matter of time you received a big banhammer gift from MS after you went online

So if you wanna join the Live! service, go buy a new non-modded console

What if I've never used XBox Live when it was modded? I was thinking of reverting it then updating, then modding again.

Xbox will detect your CFW when u online before u update and straight ban

1) in what term did u mean if u have not use xbox live? not switching it on or connect to xbl?
depending which version ur using, later production line of Jasper mobo set comes with a real time security checker. the security has been compromised just by unplugging ur dvdrom's power.

2) unmodding require u to use the same key as the original drive fw and u need to pair it with ur mobo. unless u have the key, u will not be successful.

3) depending on the the type of mod firmware injected into ur fw dvd drive. Do not confuse with PS3 CFW, this fw only overide (dvd drive, not ur console & MS still have control over it). PS3 CFW is a total overide of PS3 system.

theres no proper detailed explanation of how MS detection works and never will be.

even if u manage to update. ap2.5 will kick in and ur console is locked.

Okay, I've done some research on this, and this is what I found out. But first, to clear up:

Yes this is the one I'm concerned most, especially as I got it second-hand.

Due to above mentioned circumstance, I do not know the type of firmware injected. Maybe I can find out using firmware dump?

Only if you run backup copies. If you use originals, I don't see why it will be locked. Even then, if I mod to iXtreme LT+ after the update, it should protect me from being flagged or even banned from XBL.

Now my problem is: I've accidentally updated to latest dashboard and put in MW2 without knowing all this. I have to find someone who could do both drive firmware update and NAND editing (for unflagging). Drats!

lol, why all the trouble & question? just buy a new unmodded save yr time & ours. dont even need to follow up on ixtreme update & what AP2.5 games are out there.. & afraid of new dashboard updates
