actually, i am still... wondering, sony has OLED tech for quite sometime now... they can easily make Translucent display over pentaprism(having EVF like effect, face detection, wording over OVF), and of coz, losing the AF ability on video...
sony could easily make a full video capability A77 and a OVF version of A7xx (like A580) with OLED overhead display.
sony ALWAYS has the technology. just dunno why they keep dragging the a700 replacement. want to produce a near perfect camera konnonnya. hopefully it will live up till its hype.
I just go try Marumi DRF14 Ring Flash cannot sync with a55:( when take pic shutter close the flash only flash but when I sync with my a550 is nothing wrong do u recommend me bought?
i think he's asking whether is it the fill flash mode or slow sync or rear sync mode which causes the a55 to not synchronise with the marumi ring flash?
mastering: D3100 do not have built in motor, it still requires AF-S lens to work. else its full MF only.

its just auto focus silent (AF-S) the S never mean its high speed or low speed, but their 70-200 F2.8 is AF-S also but highspeed, while thier 18-105 is AF-S but normal motor.

silent wave motor is nikon..used mostly on nikkor lenses..
canon one is USM..ultra sonic motor...used mostly on white Ls..
sony is SSM..super sonic motor..

let's take it u MUST have F2.8 the only 2 best choice u have is i)Sigma 18-50 F2.8 ii)Tamron 17-50 F2.8 (new one is 1.7-1.9K, 2nd hand, head down to alphanatics.com, i saw someone selling 1k)
Sony F2.8 are for the Pro series lens which coz over 5k.

1.7-1.9k is got VC one. None VC copy can get at 1.3k. Even if you buy from futoromic(official dealer for tamron lenses in malaysia) also less than 1.6 IINM.
Thanks ieR for your input. Correct me if I'm wrong, the guy said his Tamron lens is for Nikon, so can't be used with A55, right? He also mentioned that it has got no built-in motor, so does it mean it has no autofocus function?
ever lens of different brands have different mounts. so you can't exactly put a Canon lens into a Sony body.
Same thing for tamron. As a 3rd party lens maker, it makes lenses for different brands with different mounts.
no built in motor means it is screw driven. means the lens relies on the body to autofocus. if the body, like the nikon D3000, which does not have a in-body AF motor, then your lens cannot AF if it doesnt have its own motor.
That's what I thought. However, in the film camera days, they just used adapter for mounting a lens to various make. I see, I see.

Calling all A33 or A55 owners
Can you pls share your experience, whether good or bad, of your new babies with me as I'm also comtemplating of buy the A55? Don't want to make the wrong decision and having to change system later.

yes that's why i said 'can't exactly put...' and not 'totally cannot use other brands lenses'.
adapters are available out there... but downside is it might not autofocus..
