Ive read 2 types of rumors that causes RROD. - overheating while the xbox is on ( idle or playing games ) - heat that is trapped inside the xbox when it is switched off. ( fan not spinning , so no air flowing in or out ) <-- i personally think this is the major reason, the first one is a contributing reason
What im thinking to do is an always-on fan mod. I know it's bad to the enviroment. sorry. My LCD is connected to my old laptop (2007), which is also connected to my xbox. i have this cheap external notebook cooler with 2 5v fans which i dont use anymore. I want to put the fan inside the xbox, and connect the usb to my laptop. since the pc is always on, the fan will spin forever.
my question is : how should i put the fan? as in, in which direction should the air flow? im assuming that the fan should blow the hot air away ( like what normal internal laptop fans do ) but, since im taking the fan from a notebook cooler, should i blow cool air into the system?
pardon me for the lengthy post.

ur console is jasper or from pre-jasper era?
if jasper, no need to worry about fan mod, non of the jasper set suffers from 3RROD anymore
anyway... xbox blow out the hot air via the back, so you'll need to blow in cool air into the system, most of the ppl do it via the bottom

- intercooler fan only works when the machine is on. im trying to get the hot air out when the the xbox itself is turnef off.
- it's a xenon ao i have the rights to worry. haha. i want to do the advance mod and stuff ( case cutting etc ) but i dont have the necessary equipment.
bought 4 fans, 2 at the back 2 on the sides. the one at the back will sort of help the internal fan to blow out hot air. will use xbox back usb port the one on the sides will have 2 fans, use 2 usb ports from my pc ( 1 usb per fan ), 1 fan will blow cool air in, another one will blow hot air out. always on since it's connected to the pc.
opinion?
