My experience ..

Epson TW700 [810 in d US] 3lcd panel 720p pj bought in 2006 [circa 6.5k] - 96 X 54inch frm 20ft away - pj on shlf..
Picture frm bds is very gud.. even at ard 1400hrs
I hv no complaints at all frm tis veri capable hd ready pj..

I d do it again, but if hv d bullets .. might try d 1080p epsons..

On which is better .. I hv only seen one model dlp .. a infocus 4805 n it was good for its time..

On wat to buy now .. for 1080p pjs
If local then d cheapest would be d optoma hd20 - dunno how reliable/gud it is thou'..
I tink d rest is astronomical in price..

If buyin frm d US.. well de hd20 is only USD850 in strt prc so theres lots to choose frm if buyin there..

Cheers
D

I auditioned both the Optoma 20 and Mitsu 3800, but have no experience with the Vivitek. The Optoma had really poor blacks which gave a very flat and 2-dimensional feel, even with 1080p material. That's why i decided to get the Mitsu. The PQ is really stunning. No regrets

Auditioned both and eventually went for Vivitek H1080FD due to many reasons. In my case, the decision was made primarily because the offset and the projection distance of the Vivitek is more suitable to my set-up. You can read lots of reviews comparing the two in the net, and most reviews seems to prefer H1080FD over HD20 based on several factors. As for me, im very happy to have purchase the Vivitek. It is simply stunning. A great value for money...
