Let's stop the bickering about HSBC's WMC shall we ?
I used to hold the HSBC Premier card myself and I can confirm that even my RM has no idea about the WorldCard status.

Still card design is not worth mentioning. Even the HSBC's classic card design is much more interesting than HSBC's Premier MC. Not to mention despite the so called premier status ... this card is nothing less than a hyped up HSBC Platinum card. I'd rather hold the Platinum

Explain "hyped up"?

That's right... capable of paying TM bills using Internet Banking via OCBC deposit accounts only.

If you are paying to Ambank then it is Ambank LOC, else it is MBF LOC.
The promotion only limited for RM3000 (platinum card) or RM2000 (gold card) of outstanding amount.
I guess cash advance doesn't entitle for 0% in this promotion (see here).
*
If I apply for the credit card now, how would I know I am applying for Ambank LOC or MBF LOC? Did they waive annual fees for new applicant? Sorry if my question looks stupid...

(I assume you are applying for an MBF card)
Whether it is AMBank or MBF LOC, it is not your choice to decide. It is up to the bank.
Depending on the promo, they will waive the AF but please check current promo and don't fall for agent word of promise.

On the same note ... there are better cards out there rather than MBF for your consideration.

Argh ... the VISA Platinum. Asked if it is possible for a Premier customer to get this card instead of the Premier MasterCard but was told it is not possible. They said even if a Premier customer requests for a Gold credit card, he or she will either have to pledge a time deposit account or apply using the normal route which is to submit your application with your salary slips.

Miles, you are right. I am not eligible for the card. I think what is the reason they approved the card application. Is it that I'm holding 5 diff card from others bank will be the factor or I always pay on time before the due date ? hmm.gif hmm.gif ~ As I concern,I never late on any payment and I always pay in full. All my 5 credit card are 13.5% interest for a year.

In respect of your 1st paragraph, as rayfoo mentioned you will need a year to apply for other cards based on EON's card.

In respect of your 2nd paragraph. you can apply for other credit cards as long as you can proof you got income and meet their income requirements. Not only that, if you have read previous posts here, a member deposited money into OCBC FD and was issued the OCBC Titanum card eventhough his income did not qualify him for the card.

You mean Fixed deposit? then the bank will hold your fixed deposit certificate? wub.gif

No. Just that you won't be able to withdraw the money in the time deposit deposit account pledged as long as your card is still active.

Not just HSBC but the banking industry as a whole.

True, but I guess is because the banks aren't traning the staff enough and updating/briefing them on new products but instead pressuring them to get people to sign up for cards and unit trust.

Not only that, you can gain more interest like I mentioned earlier (minimum close to RM2K a year for RM200K) if deposit money in another bank based on today's promotional rate. Use this extra money and get AMEX Plat Charge Card better if want to show off "status". Also HSBC Premier MC don't give you access to KLIA lounge.

Same case for SCB VI, go deposit money with another bank and will get higher FD rate today and earn more than RM2K in interest since SCB VI need RM250K in FD (not applicable to those who got SCB VI because got loan from them). But there is one good thing about SCB VI is that it give access to VIP airport lounges and very good insurance protection when buying air ticket with it.

And both HSBC and SCB overseas transactions admin rate is high, normal CC from MBB better anytime for overseas transactions.

Then again, people like me who have HSBC Visa Plat card can't get HSBC Premier MC without depositing RM200K with them. My Dad have both HSBC Visa Plat and HSBC Premier MC but he will tell you that HSBC useless as he never "win" anything from using them. And me non HSBC Premier customer have higher CL than him.

Dad got his Premier Mastercard when they converted his Partner account to Premier. Not even a month after getting the Premier Mastercard he called up and requested for the Visa Platinum. They sent it to him, no questions asked. How come?

When the other banks are processing your application, when they view your CCRIS, they can see your existing credit card is secured by a collateral - in your case fixed deposit certs. However, it is entirely up to their discretion to approve your application or otherwise.

The credit card issuer will know it from your CCRIS report if your credit card is pledged under fixed deposit.
