how to identify ar?  rclxub.gif  .they really should write on it
No. Usually only Platinum, World or Infinite will have the status of the card written on it. As for how you're going to identify the card, there is only one type of CIMB Islamic Petronas MasterCard and it is a Gold card.

Not all classic card is silver in color though. Same goes to Platinum card. Anyway, most platinum card does have the word platinum embossed on it.

Strictly saying, only card number, cardholder's name, member since and expiry date are embossed on the card. The word Platinum is just a printing. Maybe I have not seen an embossed Platinum word. Enlighten me pls.
Wrong choice of word sweat.gif

ocbc a bit stingy on the credit limit...

somemore said it here.... and its true

i only got a mere 14K cl for ocbc, whereas my cimb upgraded to platinum with rm70K cl
is it possible to ask ocbc increase the cl by faxing income docs? if salary say rm10k, how much cl can get?
I don't quite get why people want a higher credit line for their OCBC Titanium MasterCard. The total rebate one can get is capped at RM50/month starting from next year. Why do you guys need such high limit then ? RM10,000 is more than suffice.

hey.... wanna ask... lets say if i wanna apply credit card for abc bank... and i have a saving acount wif da bank... will this add advantages for apply?? i mean will b easier??
No. It is not going to help unless the balance is huge. Time deposit is the one that may help your credit card application. No guarantees though.

No it won't help
No. You are wrong. Time deposit will help. Different banks different policy though. For Maybank, you must have your salary credited into your savings account. Then you'll be eligible for a pre-approved credit card.

Maybank rejected my application years ago.  The company I was working for credited staff's salary to Maybank's account and on top of that I had quite an amount of time deposits at another branch.  The idiotic bank still rejected my application. mad.gif
Then i do not know why though. There usually won't be a problem for you to get a credit card from Maybank since your salary was credited into Maybank every month. May be you have a huge outstanding loan ? Or probably you have defaulted on loan or credit card before ?

QUOTE(tzeling @ Oct 24 2010, 04:51 PM)
does anybody know bt HSBC Security Device for the Internet Banking service? Do they give it to HSBC credit card users or what? (I just had my HSBC Visa card for near a month but they never send me this device tho)
You no longer need the HSBC Security Device to access your HSBC credit card account online now. Just go to any HSBC branch and tell them you'll like to register for internet banking and you do not have any savings or current account with them. You'll be required to set up a 8-word passcode. Every time you login to your HSBC internet banking, you have to key in your username, password and 3 of the 8-word passcode you registered with them.

QUOTE(tzeling @ Oct 24 2010, 04:55 PM)
I actually don't have account with HSBC, I only use HSBC credit card. N yep I have access to Internet Banking by registration thru online. I'm just curious bt wat is this security device? So they only give it to their account holders for internet banking but nt credit card?
If i'm not mistaken, they only give the security device to those who have a savings or current account with them now as you must have the security device to perform IBG.

Ya, u r right, HSBC Security is no longer needed to access CC statement/IBG online.

IBG ? You mean Interbank GIRO ? Actually, you still need the HSBC Security Device for IBG. As for acccount transaction history, no. You don't need the HSBC Security Device.

QUOTE(tzeling @ Oct 25 2010, 12:13 AM)
I just read sth bt the security device. It's kinda like have to pay or its like only those business banking need it or wat. It's good nt to use security device oso, quite troublesome haha!
If i'm not mistaken, only corporate customers have to pay. People like us don't smile.gif

By the way, the HSBC Security Device has a battery life of approximately 5 years. We are supposed to pay RM50 to get a HSBC Security Device replacement. Have not done this before. Therefore, i am not sure if it is waivable.

FYI, last year i open a saving account in Shen Zhen China Bank and they also give me a security device and charge me RMB15 for it. It seem like overseas country started these device more early than our country. It's much much more secure with these device when transact over the net.
HSBC in Asia has been adopting the security device thingy for many years already ... In a press release from their HQ in London sometime early this year, it said that this security device thingy will eventually be a standard thing in all countries it is present.

5 years? Then I'm going to close my account during year 4, then reopen a new account after that and get a new security device smile.gif

Like this don't need to pay RM50.
Certain banks won't allow you to open a new account in x months after you closed your last account. Not sure how it is like with HSBC.

But the rebates you'll get from this card will be more than enough to cover the credit card tax.

ya which bank offers the cheapest charges for cc payent via online?

i jz did a transaction using cimb clicks, i was charged rm2  cry.gif
Please refer to this thread > Interbank Funds Transfers. Since you already bank with CIMB Bank, you might want to open a Basic Savings Account with them. Make sure you request for the one without any ATM Card annual fee smile.gif

I already have a cimb bank acc
that link is inaccurate
as i said, js now was my first time doing SBC cc payment but was charged rm2 (according to the link, 1st 2 transaction is only rm0.50)
The CIMB Bank IBG charges listed there is definitely correct. Please read it again. You were charged RM2 per transfer because your savings account is NOT a Basic Savings Account which is why i suggested to open a BSA with CIMB Bank.

how do i know if mine is a basic accout or not?
From my experience is that you have to specifically request to open a Basic Savings Account or they will just open a regular savings account for you. As for how to find out your current account type, you can check it at any CIMB Bank branch. Alternatively, you can send them a secured message through cimbclicks.com.my.

can i convert the current one to a saving account?
It is possible with Hong Leong Bank. Not sure about CIMB Bank.

How about Public bank gold card? Do they give points for purchases as well?

Public Bank Gold card gives you points, no cash rebate.
Actually, Public Bank Gold credit cards all give cash rebate. Public Bank has very few credit cards that give points.
