Which is more cost-effective to pay your CC bills :-
A. via Interbank Giro (IBG) thru online banking
B. through cheque deposit machine ?
*
It depends.
If the issuer bank is in vicinity, a cheque deposit costs you only RM0.15 stamp duty. If you don't wish to walk or drive, then IBG/online payment is the best solution. Common IBG charge ranges between RM0.50 and RM2.00, depending on the type of account. Some banks offer zero IBG charge for the first few trxn, some for unlimited trxn, but the T&C of the ZERO CHARGE is not easy to comply.

If I recall correctly, it is AMStar Extreme.
Not sure whether it's a Savings or Current acc. You may check it out at Ambank's website.

I agree. RM2 may sound like a lot but if you are moving RM5K around it may be a good idea. Moving around in big cities like KL is not easy with the traffic jams, risk of getting your car scratched/accident, etc + coupled with the high cost of fuel + sometimes parking fees + time spent on the road ... RM2 is well justifiable.(Assuming RM2 is the max fee)

I'm not advocating the RM2 to be justified but if one were to consider the many possible cost of travelling around .... the actual cost may be worth more than RM2 itself.

QUOTE(zenquix @ Oct 19 2010, 01:38 PM)
Was looking at my OCBC statement, and just realized I got charged interest. Although the bulk of the interest was reversed off due to the 0% interest promotion, there is a portion of interest that was not. A call to the CS gives me the answer: "This is the interest on the GST, which is not covered by the 0% promotion".

I asked them to waive as I made more than the minimum payment to even cover the GST in full.

Anyone have the same problem?
*
The RM50 service tax was shown in my first month statement. I made minimum payment as per first month statement. In my second month stattement, OCBC did not charge me interest.

laugh.gif  That is because there is no specific law requiring them to publish the net fare in their advertisement. And they learn that from Ryanair. Well, it's actually even worse with Ryanair. They could tell you your flight is going to Frankfurt but when you arrive there, you'll realize you are arriving at Frankfurt-Hahn airport instead of Frankfurt-Rhein Main. Frankfurt-Hahn airport is like 2 hours away from Frankfurt  ohmy.gif  doh.gif

Ambank is not as widely available as MBB/PBB/HLB/CIMB, you may need to consider the convenience of banking with Ambank. Of course, if your job requires you to travel and you pass by OCBC/HSBC/Citi/etc, you have wider choices then.

Of course there will always be a string attached. No free lunch in the world after all. Anyway, this account requires the least deposit to maintain it.

No need millions ...

- HSBC Advance > RM20,000
- HSBC Premier > 200,000

HSBC account that needs millions to open is HSBC Private Banking account with HSBC Private Bank. Nearest country that offers such service is Singapore. HSBC Malaysia doesn't offer private banking service here. You need at least US$3 Million just to qualify and you will need a referral to get into HSBC Private Bank. No open application allowed. Most existing HSBC Group customers will get invited into HSBC Private Bank when their total cash deposit with HSBC Group reach US$10 Million.

I really hate OCBC now.. DAMN IT. I just activate my card last Thursday and only had 3 transaction since (1 on the activation day and two today) and they blocked my card saying based on my spending pattern. The funny thing is the CS is looking at the screen and tell me it trigger their alarm. She went on to explain that it was this Tesco purchase that trigger it and ask me what was my last transaction to which I replied Tesco and she even went on and ask me which date... and I SHOUT TODAY!!!....

(*&!@&!&*@(*!@(!*

And its for penny transaction... when will they learn?

On another note, SCB sent me a letter to upgrade my CL... 54k now for a 3k monthly salary... go go go... I wanna see when Credit Card bubble will bust...
