in these case, my cousin' cimb card statement clearly stated that any petrol transaction didn't get any point at all since i'm paying for her. She using regular platinum

I don't understand why you suddenly talk about regular Platinum card.

If you think that a card that earns points cannot earn petrol rebate, it is partially true. Because this is only applicable to CIMB regular cards (from Classic to Platinum), but not Direct Access Mastercards. DA MC is a point-based card but earns 2% rebate at all gas stations nationwide.

yup, both of us are just trying to clear mitodna's doubt smile.gif
DA MC is however losing ground to OCBC Ti recently. lol
The only strength of DA MC is that its rebate capping is based on 'per brand per card'. That means a DA MC cardmember can earn RM50 for fuel, RM50 for KFC, RM50 for Guardian, RM50 for Tesco, RM50 for Giant, etc...

HSBC gst will be charged 1 month after expiry date. if ur expiry is 09/14 then the gst will be on ur Oct statement, not Sept.

u should redeem gst50 AFTER it shows at ur statement. like me, i did pay full amount 1st (the last day of due date) then redeem gst50 (before next statement). so my next statement got rebate rm50 and extra rm50 will be deducted to next statement.

do u pay early? if yes, pls call HSBC helpline

He already redeemed the credit card tax last month ... before the actual credit card tax is billed. And since they have credited the credit card tax that he redeemed last month.

yup..i redeemed in advance...and have been calling their helpline..

so, my golden question is..do i need to pay for this or not??

i really a bit failed in this things actually... laugh.gif

In my point of view, rather than risk anything, just pay the bill as per statement balance. Any credit you get will be offset by next month bill anyway.

You need to pay what is stated in your statement balance. This is because the credit card tax you redeemed earlier has already been deducted from your statement balance. You can do the calculation yourself and you will find out that they have already deducted the RM50 from your statement balance.

You confused yourself actually. Normally people will only use points to redeem cc service tax payment after the tax has been charged. In your case, you redeemed it before the tax was charged and the RM50 had been credited in your cc acount 1 month earlier.

Oh, this is new to me... I am in the impression the rebate is based on category grouping... eg. Tesco, Giant, Guardian, etc share the max RM50 cash rebate whereas KFC, Starbuck, Burger King for another Rm50 threshold...

But I interpreted differently that it means the RM50 is based on Brand Grouping instead of individual brad.. rclxub.gif

Pls check out this link.

So, you think that "KFC+Starbucks+Burger King" are grouped as DINING, and "GUARDIAN+COLD STORAGE+GIANT+TESCO" are grouped as GROCERIES.

Hmm..it makes sense too. sweat.gif

look at ur statement.
if "service tax50 c306" got there, means no need to pay.
but i doubt how can u redeem in advanced? the redeem should not proceed or denied?
this is bcoz if redeem gst50 is 9500 points, while redeem rm50 cashback is 12500 points.

whatever it is, this:

but again, if rm50 already credited (deducted from statement balance), then we can redeem c306 many times? cheaper (less points) than c302/c304 hmm.gif

so now gastacopz, pls go clarify with hsbc helpline and let us here know ~
