I am not aware that SCB offers such a higher CL ratio. Mine is 3.5x my monthly salary, while my OCBC Titanium's CL is 2.5x. My SCB's CL was used to be my highest CL before I obtained DA VI.
hehe, maybe my salary still in the mid range of 4 digits, so they can gv up to 9x

Good point. I had thought of this too. But in my case, I didn't max out my SCB JustOne rebates last year. I spend very little. Maybe I don't need OCBC Titanium after all. Don't need to incur another RM50 service tax.
*
are you near to maximize the RM600? if you are close to reach the max rebate and can forsee spending more in the near future, might be a gd idea to get the ocbc ti now

Similar to mine too.. I wonder if they will lower it if I didn't use it within the year. I got it for the FREE cash.
*
hehe, seems like scb is really kind in CL. doubt they will lower it unless you request for them to do so

Is it possible to request the bank to reduce the credit limit? What implications will this have? Any adverse impact on Credit Score?

Banks can reduce your CL upon request. This will reduce your credit risk instead and you will get bank loans easier.

OMG! Banks should strictly approve CL based on income statement, not on card reference basis. CIMB and SCB are the culprits.

The promotion has been running for quite some time, and it was still valid last month. Instead of enquiring here, you should check SCB's website and call the CS to get a definite answer.

I don't think reducing credit limit is the answer to over spending. People who are desperate will look for multiple card to achieve excessive limit.

I received a FedEx card offer from Maybank 3 mths ago but I never activated it although a MBB officer did call and ask if I received the card, which I just responded yes. End of conversation.

Today I received a statement charging me for the RM50 service tax. How can MBB do this?

Did you apply for the card in the first place? If yes, you are liable for the service tax payment. If no, you should call MBB to cancel the card and service tax immediately.

no, i didn't. when i called the helpdesk, they told me that the card is considered activated once they sent it out so it can be used immediately already. i wonder wht kind of security is this. the card could have been delivered to a wrong address and any bugger could hv started using the card without verification.

The problem is that you received the card 3 months ago. When the bank officer called you to verify, you did not reject the card on the spot. The bank might think you had accepted the card so that they activated the card for you.

I guess you would forever keep queit and keep the card if you did not see the RM50 service tax in your statement. Treat this as a lesson. Your ignorance gave you trouble. What you need to do is to inform the bank to cancel the card immediately. You still have a chance not to pay the service tax which has been charged.

To EONBank GSC card users, have you encountered people who line up at the gsc eonbank concession counter and pretend that they don't know the counter is only for those with the card?

Had another experience yesterday and it's really annoying because they're slowing down the queue. After turning away a few customers without the card, the gsc staff announced loudly 'excuse me, this line is only for gsc eoncard users' yet some still try to talk their way out of it. I've seen the staff giving in a few times, fella had to go to another counter to register the purchase.
