What is Android?

Android is a software stack for mobile devices that includes an operating system, middleware and key applications. The Android SDKAndroid SDK provides the tools and APIs necessary to begin developing applications on the Android platform using the Java programming language.

Application framework enabling reuse and replacement of components
Dalvik virtual machine optimized for mobile devices
Integrated browser based on the open source WebKit engine

Applications

i believe this thread leads to nothing. most developer would direct their questions to xda developer forum than here SRSLY.

It's a pity there's no dedicated Android programming forum here. Even the XDA Developer's forum is mainly about ROM development, not Android/Java coding. Right now I think anddev.org is one of the better Android programming forums.
