Hi could anyone kindly help me with these few queries: 1. There are about 6 buttons below the start/stop button. The 2nd one from the right, what is that for? Some kind of an alarm indicator? 2. My 2011 2.5 Teana comes with TCAT multimedia navigator. I can use the navigation function but can't figure out how to switch it off. This is rather irritating especially when you deviate from your destination. And the navi keeps asking you to turn back 3. Do any of you encounter difficulty using the usb for music? I loaded my favorite music into a thumbdrive, insert it into the usb slot but the multimedia interface can't seems to detect it. Likewise for bluetooth. Can't pair it with my Samsung S4. 4. How and where do you guys keep your bottles of water in the car? Btw, I'm using the new bridgestone GR100 16 60 215. Quiet and comfortable compare to ps2 and contipremiumcontact which I used on my previous bmw |

Hi nokh88,
It's the 3rd button from the left. I have since figured out its the alarm button. After you lock the car, the red light will blink intermittently to indicate the alarm is on. As for the navi, yea, just look for a tab called "End route" or something like that and the navi guide and voice would cease. Phew! My mileage is now about 60K km. Called up SC and was informed that CVT oil (as well as spark plugs) only need to be changed at 80K km. Was told CVT oil would be about Rm500+. Just as what bro MYM123 has said, 1 bottle of CVT oil for RM280. So 2 bottles would be RM560. Still can't use USB to play music. But I found out my SD card also have a lot of loaded music files (apart from the navi files). Got to read the manual again s to how to play the music from various folders in the SD card. My 2.5 came with TC installed body kit. Heard some metal noise at the left rear door side on the way back from KLIA. Bang the said door when reached home but couldn't hear anything. But found out the side body kit came loose near the end of the left rear door as the double sided tape has worn out. Reattach some 3M double sided tape onto it and so far the noise has not recur Really enjoy the comfort and quietness of the car. But as a comparison with my previous E60, Teana still lose out in terms of insulation from tyre, wind and road noise. My E60 was shod with the ContiPremiumContact 55 series tyres while the Teana is using Bridegestone GR100 60 series tyres. But Teana still lose out to E60 in terms of noise insulation. Not to mention the CVT noise (sometime not sure whether its the engine or CVT noise). But getting use to it. Beside the smoothness of the gear change more than compensate for the CVT noise. I am not the boy racer type. Learning to adjust the right foot when pressing the accelerator and the CVT noise can be minimised to a great extent. |

Finally managed to use the Music function in TCAT multimedia to listen to songs copied to the SD card. Wow so many of them now I don't have to listen to FM anymore, or do I? haha

QUOTE(mym123 @ Oct 5 2014, 09:05 PM) 1. Not sure about that.... But my guess could be alarm is active.... Hi mym123, any update on your CVT after the change of transmission oil? Apart from the jerk free ride, does it help to reduce the CVT whining or droning noise? Was the oil very dirty when taken out at 80k km?2.rarely using the navigator 3. I dont have any problem linked to my Note 3 and play music from my device... 4. Not keeping any water bottlesalthough its a good practice for emergency purpose.... Recently my car already reached 80k km..... Battery kong..... Change to maintanance free battery for Rm320.00 .... Thailand made brand GOLD.... After that service for 80k km as well.....using normal mineral engine oil, CVT gear oil, change the brake oil and service it as well, service the aircond ( gas top up, change the aircond filter), ECU tuning.... The labor cost me abt RM300 and the parts was RM1,000.00 with a total cost of RM1,363.00 inclusive tax..... The most expensive parts is CVT oil which is RM280.00 per bottles of 4 liter..... Have to bought two bottles.... 2.0 gearbox is using 5 liter of CVT gearbox oil.... Which left me for 3 liters extra that can be used for the next 80k km services..... Now i feel the gearbox like a new car feel.... Not slightest jerk can be felt...... |

Hey great to hear that. I'm now tempted to change the cvt oil when my mileage reach 70K instead of 80K. Still have a long way to go as my present mileage is only 61K.
When you guys purchased your teana new, is it standard 3 years warranty? This question is pertinent to me because my car still have another 2 months to go before 3 years expire |

After the expiry of warranty period, it is better to service at outside workshop. Cheaper parts price and labour. You can stand right next to the mechanic and observe how he attends to your car. They too will be more careful and attentive. Compare to sc who will just ask you to leave your car for a few days and they may only start to attend to your car when you're about to come and collect.

Hi all, I too encountered this problem of the brake getting harder and harder to depress when you start the car. Normally the problem is more pronounced the longer you leave the car. Once the car starts, the brake returns to normal. But once you off the car and leave it for like 2 days, the brake will be hard to press. If it is the brake booster, heard that it costs a bomb. I can see from the other car forums like Sonata and Accord that the owners are also having this problem. Probably most cars where you have to press the brake before starting the car will sooner or later have this prob. Anyone encountered this before and have it solved?
The other problem is the soft leather of the steering wheel. The leather skin surface of mine was peeling off everywhere. Looks very unsightly. Anyone had this prob too and whether can share your solution? |
