Is the iPhone going to be cheaper in regards to the recent budget announcement?

Hi would like to ask, since our PM annouce that all cellphone's 10% tax is removed, so does it impact on IP4 and when the price will drop?
*
No one knows for sure. I have asked my corporate account manager in maxis and she doesn't know. Honestly, maybe it is about RM100 or RM200 difference. Maybe a lot to some people.. but looking at a half full glass, maybe now is the good time to buy because every one is waiting for a price drop and you will definitely get stock.

Maxis is doing a road show for corporate customer and they said that I will be able to get the phone in 2 weeks .. guaranteed because of the fact that they set aside units for corp customer smile.gif

But are you sure that they are not categorizing smartphones as phones? Malaysian policymakers not so smart one you know, they probably can't tell the difference blush.gif

Well in your case, you should check everything on the spot when you get your phone, i have personally reminded people here to check everything from the glass, headphone jack to camera everything even the gyroscope must be checked before leaving if not its quite hard for one to one exchange, at least when you do these checks infront of them, they cannot deny there is a problem, i personally spent 20 minutes inspecting my phone in front of two maxis personnels.

I am in a dilema. My iPhone 4 will be delivered to my office - I signed up in a corporate roadshow and that's how it will be delivered. While I can inspect it before signing off the form, I don't think I can boot the phone and try the camera/phone function without a micro sim! What can I do? Buy a rm10 prepaid micro sim and try?

The 10% tax are exempted from PDA previously, and not smartphones. PDA=Smartphones, but smartphones <> PDA. So, smartphones like BB, HTC etc may see a price drop. But iphone, which is selling like hot cakes, i really don't see why they are to lowered the price.

Don't understand what you mean.
Are you saying iPhone is not a PDA and iPhone is not a smartphone?

It doesn't matter if iPhone sells well or not. If it qualifies for the sales tax exemption, it will qualify.
