QUOTE(La_DottA @ Oct 12 2010, 11:13 PM) Are companies sponsoring a debate/spelling bee team, then? Korean pro-gamers are making loads of money while neither can speak English fluently. While no one's to blame, I believe the current socio-political environment here in Malaysia is not too conducive for Malaysian e-Sports. Perhaps companies are ignorant about professional gaming or sponsorship seekers are just not putting in the right effort. And let's not forget the country's administration. Our Youth, Culture and Sports Ministry endorses e-Sports but has never supported it financially (a stark contrast with China and Korea, but there lies another tale). Simply put, if the Government isn't willing to pour money into it, none of the big corporations will, either. It's not just a matter of language when it comes to sponsorships; so stop these personal attacks on xxf's English, I find them uncouth and uncivilized to the extreme.

@OP:
Which tournaments are you and your planning to join in the nearest future? I don't quite follow all tournaments so I might just ask you here.
And yes, what's the matter with all these people,nitpicking on his English and 'grammers'. LOL. It just doesn't matter as long as we get the main idea and what more, he plays decently. Far better than most of the people here.

No doubt you have brought up some of the finer points on why e-sports isnt really working out in Malaysia. Using the Koreans as a basis of comparison is flawed, as at the end of the day, the sponsors over there are still very much marketing toward their home crowd and no were else in the world is the same phenomenon being replicated. Pro teams in Europe would come close, but they're still earning much, much less and only ESL has managed moderate success in attempting to crossover to traditional media. WCG is still pretty much Samsung's annual global marketing campaign despite what ICM is trying to portray to everyone else. Besides, last I checked, "The official language of Lowyat.NET is the English language" Sponsors tend to look for people whole can communicate and present themselves efficiently and properly. Bonus points if they also look like Brad Pitt or Megan Fox. And its all part of the package. Why do you think a certain all girl dota team has a much easier time looking for sponsorship despite having mediocre skills ?
