I'm getting tired of using Windows. For some reason, my computer will crash whenever I inserted a disc into my DVD-RW drive. The drive worked fine outside of Windows OS, for example when booting Windows Installer or Ubuntu Live CD.

I tried Ubuntu 7.04 Live CD. It fulfilled my basic needs like playing audio / video files, browsing internet, and instant messaging. Now I'm considering to install Ubuntu permanently replacing Windows as my computer's OS.

Before doing that, I have a questions:

On the Live CD, the max supported resolution is 1024x768. I've did some research and found out that even after installing Nvidia's GPU driver, the max supported resolution is 1280 x 1024. Is there an easy way to make Ubuntu supports the resolution of 1440x900? I'm using 19" widescreen LCD and that's the native resolution of my display.

Thanks for your time. notworthy.gif
