I'm using a live CD to run ubuntu. now can i load an NTFS HDD so that i can read my anime files in it?

the CD might be scratched or ur CD drive need to be changed
but then again, does this process needs the CD at this stage? might be a bios glicht, or a faulty IDE connector (i think this is most likely)
