Aztech eh? Can you connect at all? Because if you can connect, but cannot surf the internet and whatnot, it's most probably the router's DNS problem. Anyway, I've got Aztech 600EW, and that darn thing allows me to connect but something about the IPv6 and whatnot causes most DNS lookups to fail. Try disabling it: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=87798

If you want to install it using the Ubuntu LiveCD, put it into your CD drive and then start/restart your computer. Then it will boot from the Ubuntu LiveCD into the Ubuntu OS which will allow you to install it on your computer.

Find some way to get into your BIOS when your computer is booting up. On most motherboards, it's turning on the PC and then pressing the delete key repeatedly. On my other computer, it was F10, so you can try those keys.
Once you're in, look for something to do with boot device priority or something similar. Then, find some way to make the CD drive the first option.
After that, just restart your computer. Your computer should start from the Ubuntu CD.

Does it even spin your CD drive when you boot up? Try inserting a Windows CD into your CD drive. Does it boot up normally? If yes, then you haven't managed to make the CD drive the first boot device.

Ok that is just weird. Perhaps your Ubuntu CD is faulty?

It's generating an arbitrary number of characters based on the CD's contents. I only know how to do it in Linux.

Strange. Does that problem only occur on that laptop or all other computers you try it on?

I'd say wait for April 19 then download Ubuntu Feisty. There are much more feature in that and it's easier to configure and so on, so I hear.

If you don't have the icon, but think you have already installed it, try typing alt+F2 and type "beryl-manager" without the quotes. If it runs and the beryl icon appears then you have beryl installed. Otherwise, follow the instructions given by cry4freedom.
p.s. cry4freedom, I really like your avatar xD

Why don't you post your output for the commands "ifconfig" and "iwconfig" here. I think that'll give us a better picture of your problem.
