yeah...i tried the same movie, both with beryl on and off.
it seems that when off, it runs fine, but when beryl's on, the movie would be sometimes can be seen, and sometimes cant.i had to move the movie player window so that i can see it, but it'll turn into black again (cant be seen) after 20sec or so...
Are you running Beryl on AIGLX? because that's one reason. I'm afraid there is no best solution up to now. But you can try changing the video rendering from Xvideo to Xshm( if I'm not mistaken that's the name! I'm currently running windows right now for some reason, could not check for you). But in my laptop, gmplayer works well with beryl, only totem and vlc are affected.it seems that when off, it runs fine, but when beryl's on, the movie would be sometimes can be seen, and sometimes cant.i had to move the movie player window so that i can see it, but it'll turn into black again (cant be seen) after 20sec or so...
edited: I've just found it on beryl's website.
But using xshm will consume your processor very much

what is the best video player which supports, rmvb, divx, xvid, avi, mpeg, quicktime?
and how to enable it in mozilla firefox?
Any player should be fine as long it has the appropriate codecs. I love to use gmplayer. It has plugin for firefox. Try searching in synaptic for mozilla-mplayer( uh, not sure, I'm still running windows ).and how to enable it in mozilla firefox?
