Are you removing Amarok just because it can't play MP3? If that's the case, you need to download the Mp3 codecs. Do this :how to make it able to open?

1. Click "System" -> "Administration' -> "Synaptic Package Manager"
2. Search for "libxine1-ffmpeg" and then mark it for installation
3. Install the above-mentioned package into your computer
4. Fire up Amarok again...and you'll be able to play your MP3s
