u can try this:
1) open "terminal"
2) "sudo apt-cache search vlc"
2) if result got vlc, type this "sudo apt-get install vlc"

Yes ubuntu does support chinese character, go to System> Administration > language support> install chinese and set ur default language to chinese

Find your monitor HorizSync and VertRefresh and put the correct value into your xorg.conf
If you don't know your monitor HorizSync and VertRefresh, try google it or put the same value as showing below

p/s: backup ur xorg.conf first be4 doing any changes

Added on July 20, 2007, 11:49 amhmm, strange. Didn't mount ntfs partition to my ubuntu be4, so i wouldnt know why ur folder with chinese character cannot be display.
Maybe someone who are wiser can help our fren here

maybe u can try use internet explorer 6..
install wine-door 1st then install internet explorer 6

goto "System>Preferences>CompizConfig Settings Manager"
make sure u have "Desktop Cube" enabled

then press Ctrl + Alt + left click + move your mouse

if u see a 3d wall instead of a 3d cube. make sure u have 4 desktops switcher

why don't u give a try on amarok. Very nice audo player with lyrics

execute the following command, should solve ur problem

sudo apt-get install libflashsupport

try sudo

sudo cd /mnt

if still cannot, do a listing

ls -al /mnt and paste the result here

sudo chown you:you -R /mnt
sudo chmod 755 -R /mnt

then try again..
anyway , why u need to access /mnt ?

are you running more than 1 synaptic at the same time?

u can ping ur gateway way but u cant access to internet?
can u try to ping 202.188.0.133 see whether got reply.

u can ping public ip means ur dns didnt configure correctly..

1) open a terminal (if u r using ubuntu desktop, go to Accesories> Terminal)
2) type ' sudo gpedit /etc/resolve.conf' (it will prompt for password, type ur current user password)
3) after u enter ur password correctly, a text pad will prompt out
4) add the following line to the text pad and save it

oops sorry is gedit

did u use sudo ?

sudo gedit /etc/resolv.conf
