i want to install a program but prompted "you have to log in as super privilage user" like that.. is it root? how to login as root btw? and how to set my current login ID to have that privilage? hmm.gif

just input your own password. root account is disabled by default on ubuntu and is using the primary user account instead.

in a terminal, type: sudo XXXX
in gui, ALT+F2, type: gksu XXXX

where XXX is your command/program

Hi all. I'm new with ubuntu, just finished install and updating this morning.

I'm using a widescreen LCD, but the maximum resolution i can get is 1024x768. So everything is stretching. May i know how to get widescreen resolution?

Thanks...

care to tell us about your graphic chipset? Is it an integrated Intel 915?

if yes, have a look here: http://ubuntuguide.org/wiki/Ubuntu:Feisty#...ion_.28Intel.29

I'm using ATI Radeon 9200SE.

Still can use the guide?

Thanks...

That won't do it for you, since it's for 8xx/9xx intel chipsets.

Quick google search gave me this: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/FixVideoResolutionHowto Check out the ATI section. You'll need to install ATI's proprietary driver for that (System > Administration > Restricted Drivers Manager).

Good luck.

Can anyone help with my installation for Deluge?

I'm using the latest package installer but I got an error, here's what is says:

"Error: Dependency is not satisfiable: libboost-date-time1.33.1"

This is driving me nuts!

Install applications from your distribution's repository if you want dependencies to be managed automatically.

To fix your problem, type this in a terminal:

CODE

sudo apt-get install libboost-date-time1.33.1
