QUOTE(tesla_rage @ Feb 17 2008, 11:49 PM) Try to delete the whole partition using gparted on Ubuntu LiveCD. Then try installing Windows on the laptop. bro, can u guide me step by step. thanks.Keep the LiveCD, its very useful. Imagine if you cannot boot into Windows/Ubuntu, and you have tried all options and the only other option is to reformat, you can backup your data using live cd |

ok, sorry for the confusion. the HDD is a 80gb with 10gb, 35gb and 35gb space. previously i was using XP and installed it to the 10gb partitioned. after checking out ubuntu, i planned to install it and formatted the 10gb and installed it with gutsy gibbon. now, since my gf want to use the lappy i need to install back XP. and the problem start to occur. i dont want to mess around with both the 35gb partitioned.

i deleted the 10gb partition using gparted in LiveCd. but still, it is not working. the formatting menu is not there. (after inserting the XP cd). this disk is not contain a winXP compatible partition. that's the message i got.
