whenever i'm trying to install ubuntu -laptop/desktop, it always stuck at "security updating" then i have to skip it [failed] & continue with "apt configuring" ?? any idea?
i'm using the Ubuntu Cd's and also the iso cd i download from the net. both giving me the same troubles

i was trying to kill a process as my pc hang. i'm so used to Ctrl+Alt+Del in windows but now applying in ubuntu.
the system still hang so i've no choice but to unplug the power supply.
once i restart my system again, it can't even log into OS
there's loads funny codes and the last line is written
<0> Kernel panic-not syncing:Fatal exception in interrupt
and it juz hang there....
anyone knows what's happening... HELP !!!

i did some changes in the BIOS setup... it's running again i guess... thx ya

my problem is, I can play all kinds of video and mp3 files using mplayer/ VLC/ real player.... BUT without any sounds in ubuntu. but the system sound can be hear very clearly such as the sound when login and logout. what should i do to enable sound in those player?
anybody knows what's wrong with it? did i miss out any codecs or etc?

ermm... what do u mean mpg321? what's that? how can i check whether i have it or not?

i found out what's wrong with my system. Actually there are 2 sound card. both are enable mode. I try to disable one of it, and finally it;s working again.

One more thing. about REAL PLAYER. I download from the web and save it in my /tmp. I run and install it just following the steps. It works fine BUT whenever I restart my pc again, the real player is not working anymore..
the error message I got is----
"Could not launch menu item
Details: Failed to execute child process "realplay" (No such file or directory)"
then i re-download and reinstall.... problems keep on looping
did i miss out anything again?

when i apt-get install realplayer - error occurs
"realplayer: Depends: xlibs but it is not installable"
how to enabled Automatix? what's that?

my ubuntu mplayer can only play .mp3 files....
any other player can play all kind of files such as .rmv, .wma. mov ? that would be much easier for me

when comes to task 2, i received this error::
E: Couldn't find package linux-restricted-modules-2.6.15-28-386

is there anything i should have done before apt-get install task 2?

I've just install this Mailman in my ubuntu, and it says, in order to make it work, I got to create a "newlist"

May I know how to create a mailman newlist?
I did read through some info through net, but still don't understand.....

i'm facing a problem where...
i would like to use cronjob to delete my files everyday at specific time.
so i follow the steps as below..
cd /etc/cron,daily
crontab -e (then wrote : "0 8 * * * rm -rf /var/www/ABC/folderA/)

the cronjobs is working, however, it deleted my whole folderA instead of the files inside folderA. May I know where is my mistakes... thx
