Not sure bout samba4 but if the command still available like previous samba try use this :
$smbclient -L vista_ip
$findsmb

See whether got some result or not!

btw i've inadvertantly installed ubuntu 8.1 on a ntfs hd if that's info any help.

$smbclient -L vista_ip (your vista ip address) not "s,bclient -L vista_ip.

 

Change to:
| Lo-Fi Version
0.0350sec    0.76    7 queries    GZIP Disabled
