woohoo yeah! orait. I finally did it. I finally managed to share files on the windows network. Thank you everybody. Thanks fastcx. Thanks Internet! now can i say goodbye to winxp... now figuring out how to make ubuntu the default start up.
*
hahaha u still hv lots to learn. for default start up, sudo gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst (it's L, not 1), in tat file, u'll see a line with default (a number), now in that file look for your ubuntu's arrangement, if it's the 1st 1 means 0. e.g. default 0

press tab n it will list down whats in the folder, or tab for it to auto select file name that is most likely to your request. e.g. when u type /bo *press tab* it become /boot, hope u get the idea, experiment with it if u dont get the idea.

i have this really annoying problem...
my keyboard is disabled whenever the linux in booted up..i was able to choose options on the boot menu from a live CD, but after booting into ubuntu(i tried kubuntu, ubuntu and ubuntu studio, all version 8.10), i cannot use my keyboard anymore..obviously it's cause by driver issue, but i don have any solution to solve it...

how to do dat??? please teach... noob with ubuntu here...

currently downloading 8.10....
*
er, its about the modem...not ubuntu..try login to ur modem in ur browser, try ip address 192.168.1.1 or change the last to .255, c if u can connect to ur modem (use physical LAN cable)..when u success, it will display login screen, use admin as user name, then empty for password, usually tats the default for most modem
