Hi,

I am new here and I have went through a few "The Blu-ray Thread" and still have some doubt.

I wish to buy a Sony BDP-S370 and I found it is selling cheap in Amazon at US$133.00.

I hope you could help me in answering these:

1. Any problems to shop online from Amazon/USA?

2. Any voltage and region format issue?

3. Any problems with the custom clearance and any import duty/tax to pay?

4. How long does it take to received the goods?

Thank you for your help in advance.

1. Any problems to shop online from Amazon/USA? Since we are having the same region A as US, there is no problem

2. Any voltage and region format issue? It depends if the BD player has 110v/220v convertor else you will need voltage convertor.

3. Any problems with the custom clearance and any import duty/tax to pay? You might wanna pay the tax/custom clearance on that.

4. How long does it take to received the goods? Don't think Amazon can ship the BD player to Malaysia directly so you might need to engage 3rd party, like vpost to assist you ship the device over. From Amazon to vpost and vpost to Malaysia might take up to 2-4 weeks.

Anyway good luck for your on-line shopping experience! biggrin.gif

The s570 is selling at rm799 here and I don't see the benefits of importing from USA as at the final price might save you only rm100 and without warranty and have to buy a step-down transformer for it

agreed. a savings of rm100 doesn't make it worth it. plus, it's a player (with moving parts) and you may need the warranty coverage at some point.

One thing to note about BD players sold here is that unless you hack it (hardware/firmware/remote) the DVD playback won't be multi-region. So keep your DVD player for that function.

Sorry, should be the s370 that's selling at that price, but if you don't need 3d, the s370 should do a great job

BD60 is quite an old model already (2008 I think) ....and features wise it's totally cannot fight with the S370...3D, Youtube, MKV, Xdiv etc...

the S370 is having a very very good review all around the world, be it UK, US, Taiwan or HK....

the lowest price I saw for S370 is RM699 (check LYN, Desa, HLK)

If the player uses 110v, using step down transformer will work, but i guess it won't work at its optimum efficiency. I'm just guessing, because I got a friend who brought his big radio/cd player back to Malaysia.. after using the converter, the radio display seems a bit dimmer than usual. so, I guess, there's must be some trade off or down side when using step down transformer.

The Malaysia S370 is Auto Voltage from 110v to 240v.

That means it can be used in any part of the world without voltage converter.

Not sure about the US version. Cant find the info about this from US site so far.
