just a word of advice, sharing such personal conversations (and naming the individual as well) may implicate him if it comes to the attention of the management etc. You may end up getting your friend in trouble. Just my advice, keep private conversations private. Or you could have at least hid his name.
And i agree with others above. It its an attitude issue. No player can expect to be named just because he works hard etc. It is the coach's job to choose his team based on his tactics, his evaluation etc. One may work hard, but 10 others may be working harder than him or any other reasons. So the correct attitude should be to focus more on you own game, and treat it as a self improvement / self motivation rather than grumble about it openly.
Just my 2 cents.
