If anyone interested, this is a video I took yesterday with the N8. Edited on the N8 as well. Even the music was from the phone's pre-installed music
I was just testing the video editing features. It was an okay tool. Not many features but quite useful for shortening videos, adding some transitions and music. Saving took a long time though, at least 3 mins for this 1.5 mins video. If you're interested on the original file, here it is http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2102923/VE100918001.mp4 (110MB) Edited youtube link to embed. QUOTE(620omen @ Oct 10 2010, 09:42 AM) hey u all, can we discuss bout GPS that n8 provide? -or it's has been discussed in other thread?- The current maps and navigation solution provided by Nokia allows drive and walk turn-by-turn navigation. Which means you just need to determine where your destination is, and the device will navigate you to the destination while you drive via voice commands. Think of it like a personal guide beside you who knows the roads.i dont really understand about free GPS that nokia provided.. somebody can explain bout this?? -i never used the GPS before.. consider me as a noob.. The Ovi Maps preinstalled in your device also allows downloading of new maps, anywhere in the world, covers navigation in almost all countries. All this for no extra cost (except for data costs but you can use wifi). Downloading on device will come in future update so you don't need a computer to update your maps. QUOTE(nicholasbeh @ Oct 10 2010, 10:15 AM) IPS is a immature technology, even LG dare not to use it.apple source their screen from LG.(this is i confirm, haha) IPS has been around since early this decade, it's just that it has been cheap enough now to be used in mass consumer market devices.I've seen better screens now from technology roadshows but it almost always boils down to price if the technology is ever going into consumer devices. I have even seen touchscreen displays which integrates the speaker in the screen and provides haptic feedback. The speaker as we know it might be obsolete soon, to enable thinner devices, ubiquitous sound and haptic feedback without an extra vibrating motor. |

QUOTE(BuFung @ Oct 12 2010, 11:30 AM) I wished it was mine. It's my neighbour's.With my lowly salary how to afford. Anyway, I like how it captured the red. But the bright sun areas a little washed out. Added on October 12, 2010, 6:39 pm QUOTE(Eoma @ Oct 12 2010, 11:14 AM) then i go spray lohhh I'm not a fan of screen protectors. But that is just me.Do we need the screen protector ? what with the gorilla glass and all. I've asked my ipong 4 friends and they said they did, just to be "safe" more than actual worry of scratches. Anyway, gorilla glass is not scratch resistant but crack resistant. Glass strength is determined by it's resistance to crack (failure) on how it can resist crack propagation from surface flaws. Gorilla glass have a deep compressive strength layer which helps to reduce cracks be disallowing crack propagation after surface flaws such as chips and scratches. Scratch resistance is due to tempered glass which is separate from Corning's Gorilla glass process. Also you can be safer with the N8 due to it having a non-flush glass with the metal band and also all around protection by the metal. This significantly reduces risk of cracked glass. QUOTE(BuFung @ Oct 12 2010, 11:48 AM) a lot of ppl would love to know a lot of thing from you here.. thanks for the afford here... small surgery.. get well soon... 1. There is no direct way to upload a taken picture to social networks via the photos gallery (sux). I like the way you do it in Maemo better. You can mail though (I think FB allows upload via mail). There is also a social app (also sux IMO) which downscales the photo, which means your 12MP snaps are pretty much wasteful. No Flickr integration which is a shame, but you can use Pixelpipe (never used before). Coming in Ovi Maps 3.06 is a "check in" feature, but I've never tried it out, since I'm not really into the whole FB craze.I would like to know... 1. what is the way u can upload a snap photo to FB... 2. try to browse LYN see how accurate u can tab at those page 1,2,3,4 page.. and how much zooming u need to allow u to be able to press the 1,2,3,4 accurately.. 3.how far the flash lite support up to... can the browser surf full FB page? I think I leave it to others to ask.... thank you very much.. 2. The default browser is very bad with the accuracy on LYN. Some links must be zoomed in before it can even be tapped, while others can be tapped easily. 1-2MB pages load fast though. However, visiting other websites, I've not encountered unclickable links. But the browser still chugs along on blogs such as Engadget (2-4MB per page). You would be better off using Opera Mobile (which I have made my default). With Opera, LYN is easily navigated, links can be clicked and experience was smooth. However, Opera still had problems trying to recognize clicks on the 1,2,3,>,>> buttons on LYN. In conclusion, default browser not recommended for this version. 3. I don't understand what you meant by surf full FB page. Do you have any site to test flash lite support? |

QUOTE(BuFung @ Oct 12 2010, 12:14 PM) thank you very much for your reply..... 3. Using default browser it defaults to the mobile page, but you can force it to show full FB page. Link is small though, I missed it a few times. In full page you can click on the videos your friends posted but it doesn't seem to load.1.. pretty bad... today smart phone IMHO should have integrate all that.... 2. sound pretty similar to my experience in S60V5.... 3. if u use ur web browser to go to FB.. www.facebook.com.. did it direct you to a mobile version? u able to access the desktop version?? if you able to go to full version.. try out some flash game.. some light one.. forget about heavy one.... thanks once again... Hope that helps. I still go back to my N900 to browse the web on the go though. I really hope Browser ver 7.3 for the N8 is a huge improvement. |

QUOTE(EXkurogane @ Oct 13 2010, 03:55 PM) 1. N8 is juz amoled, not super amoled It also depends on whether the glass window is cracked or the display itself is cracked.2. what type of display have nothing 2do with strength of screen 2. It is the type of glass used. N8's screen is gorilla glass, quite tough. But rest assured, enough R&D effort has been done to ensure reliability in everyday situations. If signs of abuse are found, such as deliberately scratching the screen with keys, unreasonable damage, water damage etc, warranty will not cover it. I believe this is consistent with any other brand of device. |

QUOTE(EXkurogane @ Oct 13 2010, 04:45 PM) i remember reading an article in sunday star paper where nokia test their phone by twisting it, scratching it, putting in 50 degree oven & subject to temperature -20C, dropping it frequently n tapping on physical buttons 1 million times a day. Yes, that's true And here's where I work. But I do those tests virtually |

QUOTE(crazyguy152 @ Oct 15 2010, 01:49 PM) I mean first time charge leh. I read online, everyone say must charge for 8 hours or somewhere there. I never gave two thoughts about all these. As long as the power management is working, your battery should work fine. Also, please use only original chargers to avoid overcharging and to also reduce your power consumption.Added on October 15, 2010, 8:51 pm Hmm.. But when i get my phone, must i finish the batter first until it dies? Then after that charge for 8hours? However, there are some tips you can follow online to ensure longer life span of the Li-ion batteries. But then again, I can get new batteries any time so I don't really care too much In conclusion, enjoy your new device. |
