Sealed box.

Last time I bought a HTC Hero, the battery is in the phone, but the contacts are sealed. In case you have the chance, do check the phone's 'Up time' in Settings > About phone > Status. If you see more than 1 minute (00:01:00), maybe you should start swearing and curse the phone seller for trying to cheat a smart buyer liek you LOL.

you scared and doubt but you still buy from them??

1.Check the warranty sticker MUST be from SIS (Local authouris Distributor) if no SIS sticker then its AP set, and the date stamp on the sticker.
2.Check the incoming / outgoing call record refer to Leevithan instructions the time should be 0:00.
3.Use your nose to sniff the unit, New set usually got fresh smell from the packing too laugh.gif laugh.gif if used set not so smelly .. laugh.gif laugh.gif . Just joking, dont try this.

good luck.

The easiest is, when you unbox your phone, it will have screen shields on it. THere should be NO bubbles in the screen shield. If it has bubbles, it means it was tempered with. Apart from that, check the battery. If there are slight blemishes or scratches, it means the unit has been ripped off. Finally, when you remove the back cover, it should be tight. If its too loose, then its been removed before smile.gif

And yeah, what Lone said is true..sniff the set..New phones smell alike smile.gif

i sure that there is some code like (#*3434#*, real 1 i forget d to check all system total usage or runtime which give you the figures whether the phone been used before anot.

buy at telco is the safest...

U should have menu popup ...... check under usage statistics .... Not 100% sure but i was told even hard reset or update firmware doesnt get rid of this data .... If its a new hp , everything should b very low or practically zero

yeah, you're absolutely right!
Ermm.. actually, to play safe don't prefer old model if you wanna get new phone.. I mean, if you wanna get HTC Tattoo, why not just go for HTC Wildfire? Latest model with better spec am I right? And if Desire, why not buy with SLCD one not with AMOLED? Latest screen and of course it's newer right?
And it's right, go for the preferred and trusted dealer or seller only.. Don't just simply land on one shop or seller and get your wanted phone.. nod.gif nod.gif

*#*#4636#*#* doesn't help. That is natively giving you the information for the current state of the phone. Its reset everytime you restart your phone. Software wise, its very hard to determine. I can always do a factory reset and a wipe and my phone comes to a zero state again smile.gif
