Tun Dr Ismail is a great man too. A man of ideals but not one that hogs the limelight. He rather play support to the main man, our first to PM.

There had been little Onns in form of Hussien and Hisham. Even little Razak in form of Najib. I wonder why the little Ismails did not go into politics?

My favorite Malaysian statesman. Who else dared to say he would arrest his own mother if needed?

As for his children, I guess they were traumatized by their father's death:

QUOTE
He (Tarmizi, one of his sons) was also disturbed by the fact that the ministers were discussing the future of national politics while the doctor was still doing his best to save his father.

how can Tun Dr Ismail get the title TUN if he never been a PM?  blink.gif

Tun is the highest title granted by the Agong, nothing to do with being a PM.

If I am not wrong Gaffar Baba a DPM also had a Tun-ship. Like Ray mention is awared by the Agung to whomever he see fit. Some day they will offer it to P Ramlee (curently Tan Sri).

Ray,
I had read about being traumatise by father's death. I was wondering why there was no desire to carry father legacy?

Ah, I meant maybe they saw how the politicians were acting even before their father's death was confirmed and thus didn't like the ugly side of politics. Maybe you can find out more in one of these pages:

Hardly any information on his family, they are intensely private. Even when his wife passed on this year there was hardly big publicity save for some retrospective newspaper articles.

That is my thought too. Like you said they know how to keep a low profile. Thanks for the link.

I didnt know if they were spoiled sons. Hisham seems like a "tin kosong" in spite of being trained as a lawyer. Unlike Hussien, he lack direction and a mind of his own. He is easily swept by the currents.
