I personally think that Avatar was a BAD movie...  blush.gif  Stiff acting, simple storyline(Pocahontas??)  whistling.gif
It made a lot of money because of the 3D effects. I was one of the few movies out there that uses 3D to compliment the movie rather than making to movie to show 3D effects.  sweat.gif

But I will get the new release because it was a very very technologically advanced made movie. It single handedly started the 3D craze/technology. I am more interested in the making(extras) of the movie rather than the movie itself.  doh.gif  If you saw the way James Cameron made the movie you will be amazed by the technology involved. He literally redefined the way movies are made. (act first, shoot(compose) later)
Sad to say it was still a bad movie.   doh.gif

+10. It's like a hello kitty craze. My exact sentiments as I will wait to get it at half price for the PQ.

Blu-ray is not just about 7.1 sounds

But just curious... Blu Ray is for the PQ & AQ right. Why do blu ray for shows like Nottinghill or Wedding crashers? I would think DVD is sufficient for these shows...

I am earnestly waiting for a good price on BTTF on Monday tongue.gif

up to each person preference I guess. why would DVD be sufficient if the show can look better on blu-ray, I think all movies will benefit from the better PQ and AQ on BD, unless of course it have a sucky transfer that it's not much different from the DVD version
*
Ya some have bad transfer or mastering or even encoding in mp2 just packaged as a blu ray rip off. There is actually a consumer movement requiring blu ray to display something like remastered from source. IMHO some shows are just overkill on blu ray when PQ and AQ is not so paramount and DVD can be sufficiently good. But of course this is a function of price and how well your TV displays 480/576.

Just thought funny on some Blu ray releases that I think has little value add above DVD.
