No..you can use Nimbuzz as an alternative Works like a charm..Even on GTalk

it's already in the US market. need to use marketEnabler to cheat the market first then only can see skype.

i downloaded the SKype from Market in Australia here an hour ago. But unfortunately i can't login due to the known issue with SGS..
so i just waiting for the new update

Skype works well on my Galaxy S , HD2 Android and Dell Streak. Mine is version 1.0.0.5 - been using too previously on my Nexus

who can download skype? I tried to download from skype.com/m on my phone and i get 404...

It's a 14MB memory hog, and doesn't support App2SD yet. Hope it will in future.

i'm using im.imo now... working fine but no VOIP...

just downloaded the skype and test call from SG to MY landline, good call quality, thumbs up.

yeah!! just download and install from Market. Login in with my old ID successfully.

I installed it on my Wildfire, can login w/o issue but can't use it...keep on giving me 'force close' error...

Guys, at first I couldn't find it on the Android Market.

But lucky thing one of my friends managed to download it and backup to apk.
So I have managed to install it and login to it.

Below are my findings:

Pros
Voice Calls over 3G WORKS!!! Very clear (depends on your 3G speed).


Cons
Drain battery life a lot while my phone was idle. I purposely left my phone on my desk for 4 hours without using it at all.

I noticed it was warm despite lying idle for 4 hours. So I unlocked the screen and check the phone status to see how much battery left. After 4 hours, it drained 40% from my phone that was lying idle doing nothing.

Usually, my phone only drains 10% overnight when I sleep (6 to 7 hours).

Also I noticed that Skype was running active as a background service and trying to kill the task and also stopping the background service didn't help as it would come back on again.

Battery hogger on my Nexus one. Done with it. Removed just after a day installed. Can't be moved to SD . Will wait until better version comes.

And also eat up my N1 memory a LOT. Dont like to uninstall other apps to free up memory since all my installed apps are very usefull.
