Sorry if this has been solved somewhere.. I've tried to look for solution for the whole day but luck so had to create this topic..

I have this software which is in APK format when I got it.

I changed the format into RAR and extracted the files and modified some of the picture (PNG format) and sounds effects.

RARed all the files and change the RAR format into APK format.. transferred it to my phone's SD and tried install as usual and I got this error

" there is a problem parsing the package"

I googled for it and lead me to Signing APK. I tried multiple ways.. with the SignAPK needing the CMD. Creating my own key.. etc.. and still no luck.

At last found this AutoSign from XDA and tried it.

and this is the error I have gotten while trying to AutoSign.



Notes: I have latest Java JDK and JRE installed on my computer. OS is Win 7 Home Premium 64bit. I do not have specific Android SDK installed and have no idea what is all this SDK thingy..

Hopefully can get some help here..

EDIT:

I tried editing in RAR form.. Meaning.. I opened the original APK file in RAR form.. and copied the pictures and audio directly in the RAR file and replace them..

This time during installation the Parsing error is not there, but when I started installation. it ends up with "Application Not Installed"

You must understand, APKs are not open source. They are highly encrypted entities and cannot be recompiled.

well.. APK is technically RAR file.. I was just modifying the pictures and stuffs.. I dont see why is it impossible while some developers can it done and signed..

just need some sifu guidancance..

According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/APK_%28file_format%29, APK format is a variant of JAR format. As per my understanding everythign that contains in a JAR format is compiled version. A Jar file has its own Signature Key when is generated at the time of compiling. So when you rename APK to any other extension, its quite likely that the key is changed. If you modify the Jar file, you need to compile it again and then install it in your Phone.

I have been changing the APK format in RAR format and deleting unwanted files and changing it back to APK. the installation did not have any problem at all..

Problem arise when I change the files. How do i recompile the file and Sign it?
