what we should look out for when looking for house tinting service?

beside the obvious heat rejection rate

also whats the max heat rejection so far available in the market?

Film will peel over time. You may want to consider low emission glass or if you can afford, go for double glazed glass

double glazed is not enough *even* if you take double glazed with a slight tint/UV rejection. been there done that. if you have sunshine on the windows a good tint is required. got raybarrier on top - helped a lot. if it peels, its easy to change and cost is trivial compared to cars. can tint a whole house for a price of a sedan wink.gif

using mine for three years. no peel, no bubble. i think the key is to buy a highgrade tint not the cheap junk.

Got my package from HomeDec on RikeCool... RM4.95 per sqft. FOC to peel of old film. Not sure if this film is good but I just wanna give a try. Tested the heat rejection and it was good.

Before Homedec, I wanted to purchase from garage sales too.

Me also don't know how good is Rike Cool, but since the company around my area and they provided 5yrs warranty on peeling, I do not mind to try out after the demo.

Changing the entire glass screen is out of my budget at the moment.

Hi Bro Max, will arrange them to fix in 3 weeks time.

Once done, will post the details and maybe some close-up pics.

Below is the brochure which I have scanned front and back. Don't know why Picasa resized the pics.

Another thing, sorry about the Rike Cool thingy. Rike Cool is for cars, while Glassbrella is for homes. blush.gif

i think the key is a reputable company like rike cool, etc. i personally would not use v-cool in the house since the metal should interfere with reception for phone (not sure though) and the tint tends to oxidize (in two cars before, now only using ceramic based tint) also when i checked with them their pricing for house was ultra high. glassbrella i never heard of is that the brand they use for their rike cool tint when they stick it in the house-windows? for 2bucks you probably get what you pay for. 4-6 should be a better option. for that price a decent film can be made and installed by ppl with experience (so it looks good on the window too).

Possible... and the best part about those company is that... whenever any peeling/bubble spotted, I will make them come and redo the affected panel. Just like what my brother in-law did to V-Kool installers. One small bubble... here they come. smile.gif

Just to share further that any old film removal will be charged RM250 per job. Mine is waived due to the event promo.

I can't remember the rejection percentage, but you can call the number in the screenshot above. Salesguy = Jerry

What I tested, pretty satisfying for me when he switched on the infra-red lamp. It was hot like hell... but a layer of glassbrella will feel differently. Immediately I got poisoned to buy from the booth.

Hopefully I can also feel the same effect after they stick it 3 weeks from now.

costly. spoke with them and their pricing was way more than what i was willing to spend on my window tinting. i cant remember the figure anymore (been 2 1/2 yrs) but i think it was at least more than 4x my tint pricing.

Could be wrong, but from what I know, don't think you will be able to find a tint that cannot see thru when you switch on the lights at night. Have you consider using window blinds?
