Hi All,

For those who use projector , do you use any UPS? in case there is a power interruption. i saw there are some UPS selling around RM200 for 500VA from APC, is it good enough to maintain the 200watt projector for 15mins?

i think it's quite important because as we all knew projector takes time to cool down the bulb and internal hardware board, i worry if suddenly there is a power interruption, there is no cooling, and it will instantly melt something or blow the bulb.

the answer i think is not necessary. yes it takes time to cool down. but as long as you dont touch it, it shd be ok.
projector lamps are vulnerable/easy to shatter when its hot.

I think it is a good move. I just purchased a APC UPS 500VA for S$68. Before that I have already experienced 2 occasions when i was using my TW4500 and there was a power interruption. I worry about the board - i think it will get damaged if the fan is not working when the bulb is shut off.

They wanna use it especially for the backup battery to power the internal fan to cool it down just incase no electric from TNB.

Yup as instant electric cut-off will damage the lamp.

I think the price of the UPS is quite small compared to what your PJ costs. So for whatever little protection it offers, i think it's still worth it

If the UPS manual says that its battery can give you 15 minutes or however long it takes to power down a 200W CPU, then you're good to go. If it doesn't, find a model that can support your projector's cool down time. Plus or minus one minute won't break your projector though.
