Hey guys, so now that the official Froyo is finally trickling down to selected regions and users at XDA are saying that:
1. Eclair JM8/JM9 feels snappier
2. Lag is still there because Samsung has not officially recognised it as a problem
3. GPS is still iffy leading some to think that this is a hardware design issue and cannot be rectified via software
4. Browser with or without Flash enabled is slower than on Eclair
5. Linpak performance is below that of the Nexus because Froyo is optimized for Snapdragon
6. Froyo does not use all the available RAM
This has totally bummed me out. For one, no phone requires this much hacking just to make it work right. I don't mind all the firmware flashing. But what I cannot accept is the amount of hacking we need to do to fix the lags and tweak the GPS settings. Out of the box, this phone completely sucks ass. Compounding these issues, one of the biggest selling points of the SGS also seems to be the cause of many users frustration. As gorgeous as the screen is, it is the single biggest power draw of the device. It's amazing the lengths some of us go to just to eke out a full day's worth of use. I myself have been exclusively using EDGE. And I begin to question, what's the point of owning a feature packed phone when you can't bloody well use any of its features?
An example, a friend of mine owns the Desire and he has pretty much the same usage pattern as I do. During the entire work day, he is connected to his office Wifi. GPS is left on the whole day. When he's not on Wifi, he is on 3G/HSDPA but he leaves Wifi on. Suffice to say, I am more than a little envious.
As grateful as I am for the devs over at XDA, what we really need is for Samsung to address these issues formally. Unfortunately, I do not have that much faith in Samsung given their past record, and the recent release of Froyo. Personally, I am looking at a couple of options.
1. To wait it out and *hope* that Samsung fixes the problems on Froyo
2. Rely on the community for a Cyanogen Froyo ROM
3. Dump the SGS and get an Android that won't cause me this much grief
I'm not sure if I'm the only one with this dilemma. If you're enjoying your phone, good for you. If you don't mind the constant lag fixes, firmware flashes, backup and restoring, I am truly happy for you. As for me, I feel that this phone, given its specs, should have have been EPIC. Unfortunately, Samsung, more than anyone else, is squandering its potential.

Nicely written bro actually im also wanna write to samsung on this and shake them engineers up. I suggest u just email this to them. U can do so at the samsungmobile site u can email them at the web.
