According to a thread i read recently, it says not to expect too much from the froyo update. It does fix some issues but all and all it does not do wonders. The changes is not significant.
*
yeah seems like its not gonna be a final update.still need voodoo to get it snappier.

^^ I want the features that come with Froyo anyhow.

Chrome-to-phone, the text selection with a magnifying glass on it. It's a pain to put selection in textbox right now.
*
i agree on that! really hard to edit what you wrote there! i also want adobe flash on my phone!

I have emailed Samsung Mobile asking them to ditch the RFS file system, complaining that it ruining the good phone with bad file system. I even ask them to hire Supercurio to help them fix the lag and a bunch of others in XDA to better improve the phone since Sammy seems clueless/ignorant on customer complaints...

Hopefully they heed my call. Don't mind waiting till december if they really can solve the all problems associate with SGS. Here is the link if any of you feel like doing the same..

Maybe so, but GPS issue won't affect all SGS users, only those that use GPS alot or depends on it. But lag affects every SGS user. When you open you emails/sms/phone/apps, you need to wait 2-5 seconds, it is not good. It hurts even more when u see your friends HTC/Iphone can open any apps in snap, which you will feel like SGS should do the same but then why it is not.

Majority of users are not techie and most probably they don't know what this lagfix is all about or how to apply it. Trust me, majority are girls. And when they compare SGS with others on the same class, they'll feel others are better even though that is on the surface only. But sadly that is how people make their judgement mostly...
*
yeah thats true, not all users have a problem with GPS, mins using papago..lock t he satelite within 3-5 seconds. but lagging it actually effecting everyones phones.
samsung better take the lagging issue as a problem. and fix it in the final froyo.

do you guys have any problem with the 720p recording, the video quality is awesome but the audio quality blows! its freakin distorted when you record it at a big venue like concert or sport events where everyone applause and screaming...

now when you compare it with Nokia N8 the audio and video is just awesome as. i believe the software is a bit dodgy for this. cuz some one recorded an audio with an app called Tape Machine, they can controll the
sound and came out with good quality...

i dunno if this will fixed in froyo or not but i know in froyo itll recorded in MP4 instead of 3GP on eclair...any possibility that they fix the audio for 720p recording guys?

Confirmed Froyo records to MP4 format. However, I think audio quality is still the same as on Eclair - 32KHz audio.

Attached are codec info tabs for 2 videos (one from Eclair recording, the other from Froyo recording), captured off vlc on my laptop. I know my recording was 480p only, but trust me, the audio quality/setting is the same for 720p.

I would agree to this. I was previously on a Blackberry Curve 8900, on speakerphone call in mycar with my wife on speakerphone also in her car. No problems at all.

With the SGS, sometimes her voice breaks up a lot because my blaady SGS mic is picking up too much sound from my end, effectively drowning out her speech..
*
dang,is this a software issue or hardware issue you reckon? its too sensitive even in a normal conversation!

Not sure, but I am hoping it's a software problem. smile.gif

it seems like Samsung HD2 experiencing this as well. but for HD2 it has
a secret code where you can adjust the mic and gain...and it fixed the mic
but then HD2 using Winmo..totally different OS.

i start to think its google's fault instead of samsung fault. because HTC desire also experiencing this problem.
the best 2 android's phones in the world seems like having the same problem regarding audio recording. doh.gif

http://pocketnow.com/android/samsung-galax...-early-november

While everyone expected the update's availability in other regions, Samsung seems to have pulled the update from its servers without offering a comment on its actions. We might only suspect that there were some problems regarding the build since some early adopters have reported lags, slowdowns and some bugs but today's action from Samsung's side could also be a strategic one as Samsung planned the update for all European countries at the same time and somehow the Nordic region got there ahead.

Lets hope they fix all the bugs and problem in this froyo firmware

i think this is a good news..new firmware froyo updates for the UK

http://www.engadget.com/2010/10/21/samsung...ates-all-carri/

Nordic countries have already sample the goods, but Sammy says that a "new" firmware update will be available in early November in the UK and should hit "all operator versions" of the phone (presumably including the Vibrant, Captivate, Epic 4G, and Fascinate) by the end of November. YouMobile is reporting that existing regional updates have been pulled due to general not-awesomeness, so hopefully they'll have a chance to get it right over the next couple weeks before it starts hitting again. Follow the break for Samsung's press release.
