Since its a 5-10 minutes presentation I'm not sure if the slides are necessary.
I'm thinking of talking more bout my hobby and interest instead of education and work background (coz my education not very good).
I'll try to emphasize my advantages that related
hopefully things works

They did mention "presentation" literally laugh.gif

You won't know till you receive any notification. You mean screwed up as in you were too nervous and panicked? Share with us what happened~
*
i've prepared my self a so called "script" for a 10 minutes speech
suddenly they require us to follow their format n cut it short below 5 minutes
bcoz of the time n must answer their question(follow format) order i didnt present myself well
but i do give them a very good answer

Received a call from one of the interview I had last week.
They rejected me in a rude way after I requested for a review on the salary.

"The hiring manager decided to drop you..tuut...tuuut...tuut..."

I bet you can guess wat is the Tuuut Tuut sound =='

so if the interviewee said u talk too fast, do u thank him or her, or u just ignore her, cos some ppl don't like it when u point out their weakness(or advantage depend on the situation). So would u prefer them to tell u in a more indirect way and how so?
*
I got questioned by the hiring manager before
"Did anyone tell you before that your voice are very soft?"

I answered "Yes, someone did told me before. I'll take it as a compliment/advantage because when on the phone the customer will feel more comfortable with my voice."

then after that they ask me question again, but before I answer, would you like me to speak a bit more louder? then they laugh sweat.gif

C'mon, didn't sound like you screw up. You just panicked and got really nervous.

Well yes, tell them about your edu - school, uni, extra curricular activities, perhaps about your family - number of siblings, internship (if any) etc. I hardly talk about my skills unless they ask me. Generally my introduction finish in about 1-2min laugh.gif I find there isn't much to talk about!

What I really dislike answering is when they ask: What's your strengths and weaknesses?
*
normally tell me bout urself part they will stop me halfway
maybe I talk too much or too many BS =='

In which specific part did they stop you? Did you speak more than required? What is meant by "normally"? How many times were you stopped in interviews?

I have not encounter such a problem, nor have any friends who do. If you really wish to know what's wrong, I guess you could be more elaborate to us.
*
All the time =='
no specific area or part they stop me
I'm wondering if my speech too boring or what =='

bro, answering "all the time" doesn't help in understanding the problem. In your next interview, play close attention to details. Is the interviewer's expression bored? Why? Did you speak more than 2 minutes? and so on.

The problem could be you, or it could lie with the interviewers.

I'm not quite sure to be honest,

my standard script would be

I'm XXX from malaysia, I'm interested in YYY thats y i studies ABC as my major in XYZ. Currently I'm studying language course at DOREMI because of my interest towards other country culture. Not only because it helps me to serve my customer better blah blah blah. By the way, I'm currently working blah blah blah...then half way they stop
approximate around 2-3 minutes

sometimes they also stop me when I'm explaining bout the course I'm studying currently and ask further bout it
but most of the time they will just skip to another question like
what do you know bout this company or what can you offer us?
izzit because my "about myself" seems useless for them?

Added on September 15, 2009, 4:23 pmOK I'll try to cut short =)

lol sometimes I keep it as short as introducing my edu in a flash (without elaborating anything) and then jump to some personal info like siblings and all. Then I just stop and let the interviewer ask me questions instead. There's no point giving too much info when they don't need it (practically) as most are stated in resume.

Basically "about myself" is indeed more like a warm-up exercise, something to chalk up and talk abt. It also shows whether the interviewer have any interest (work-related interest) towards you. Personal background reveals a lot of info regarding a person, but interviewers do not dwell into it. They (usually) judge you more fairly based on experience, skills, knowledge and personality.

What I don't understand most is most of the interviewer I had, they always thought that I'm making joke when I'm not =='
should I accompany them laugh or just remain calm and serious?
And also sometime when I'm explaining something suddenly they shoot me with another question.
After I explain the second question, I forgot bout the 1st question then the atmosphere become very quiet.
Anyway to prevent this?

They thought you were making joke? How so? Can you elaborate more specifically? There's a possibility that if you were smiling while talking about it, the interviewer thought it's a joke.

If they laugh, you should laugh alongside. Don't be tense or offended. Treat it as a joke (unless it's something dead serious/ not funny at all).

When interviewer interject your answer with another question, it could be he/ she needed further clarification on the issue. If the question he/ she asks (while you were answering) is not related, then it either means interviewer is satisfied with your answer, or not interested to hear further. It could be also due to the interviewer's impatience (maybe running late for a meeting/ discussion/ project etc). It's hard to speculate on the accurate cause of it.

You don't have to answer the 1st question then. It's like buying something in a shop. Say, the display price of the bag is RM50. You offer to pay RM40 for it and the shop owner counter offer you RM45. The last standing offer/ price is RM45 for you, regardless of the previous price of the bag.

My point is, the 1st question is already 'covered' by the 2nd question so you don't need to go back and answer it unless the interviewer insist you do so. If you could not remember what was the question, politely request the interviewer to repeat it.

Thanks a lot =D
example?
I think i mentioned it before in some of the post.

muahaha...
just went for my interview today
they will offer me a position =)

gotta wait for da salary package and other stuff

today interview didnt ask much...
and pretty short, no tell me bout yourself

interviewer: so u work in ABC?
me: yes, it's an outsource company for XYZ. I'm working as blah blah blah

interviewer: hmm...so tell me...how would you consider a bad service? the one you experience yourself.
me: The one I experienced myself?(a bit panic coz didnt prepare myself) Personally I like window shopping. But normally the promoter will come stand close to you, promote blah blah blah. even when I requested not to follow as I wan to be alone they still follow.(at this point i remember the question, answered wrongly==' then quickly cover). is this consider bad service?

interviewer: hmmm ok. Now tell me bout good service you encounter.
me: Personally I experienced one good customer service before. When I have dispute on the charges with 1 telco company. The customer service officer told me that it might need sometime as he need to escalate it to another department. Even he already escalated to another department, time to time he will keep me updated regarding the latest progress. I think this is a very good service to keep the customer informed.

interviewer: now tell me the best service you had
me: (i blur edi, didnt expect this question) best service? Personally I think the service provided by McDonald are very good. As an example, if lets say you went to McDonald with a kid. The staff over there will offer them a free board game or maybe a balloon. I think this isn't a part of their job
but they initiated(correct ar?) and go extra mile to make the customer feel more comfortable when they dine.

After that he didn't question me anymore and seems satisfied with my answer.

What do you guys think bout my answer? Honestly I think I answered very badly.

Yes, the interviewer was good.
After the question he straight away tell me bout the company structure and organization chart. Explain very detailed.
I'm having a tough time finding question to ask since the interviewer cover most of the thing that I plan to ask.
Only manage to ask

May I know the company's policy and procedure on employee training?
and
would you mind explaining a typical work day in this role?

actually both of this question the interview already touch a bit earlier but I know if I don't ask question they might think that I'm not interested on this job.
