Hi there.
I have a question.
I was asked to interview 3 days ago. The Hr manager interviewed me and gave me some case study to do. I finished the case study but did not answer a few of the question because the question is totally wrong and i have no idea what it means. After all the Q&A, the HR manager told me that they are actually looking for a person to fill up a higher position of the job that i applied for. She then asked whether i am up to it. I took some time to think and answered her yes. Then she asked me to go back and do some sample answer for the question that she gave me. I sent her back the answer 2 days later (yesterday) and then called her to tell her i already sent her the answer.
During the interview. I was not nervous. I joked with her. She was happy all the time during the interview. She gave me her HP,Fax and office phone number and told me to tell her even though i will not send the answer back to her so that she won't wait for it.
After the interview i told her that i am not from this area so i need a frank answer whether that my expected salary at 1.4k is good. She said that she is not supposed to suggest me an amount for the expected salary but in her experience with 1.4k you cant survive here. Then she gave me back the Questinare and asked me to amend it. I wrote down 1.8k

Did I do anything wrong?

On a different subject on the question, where do you see yourself 5 years from now. I answered the interviewe (another interview not the 3 day ago)
I see myself siting at your place. Is it arrogant? This answer. But i was called back for 2nd interview a day later and was interviewed by a person taht will be my direct superior. I waited an hour for the interview to start and the interview went for 30 min. I answered all their question and asked them back on the scope of my job and what i can do or cannot do when working there. Then it ended and i was asked to wait till this tuesday for the answer and see if i am shortlisted.
Wish me luck on both interview! I want the first job.
Btw. if i want to decline a certain job because i got a better offer on another job after they decided to hire me. How do i do that?

Thanks

Thankz dreamer. Incidently enough. I have been called back this morning by the second interview and told that i have been given the job ( or something to the similar effect)But the 1st job (where i need to amend my salary) i still have yet to get reply from them.
I have a question. If i want to decline a job offer after they have called me. How do i do that? Furthermore. Is it wise to negotiate on the salary after they comfirmed with me the job position?

Thankz

@dreamer So you would not suggest that I ask how much salary after i meet up with them and enquire whether i can get more then that?
So a valid job offer is how?

Hi,

The proper answer should be I have been to a few interviews.  I believe I had done well in my interviews.  As to which companies I went to interview with and the details of the interview, they are private and confidential.  I will rather not to disclose those detail in this interview as I would not have disclose any detail of this interview to anyone else..

Intersting. I assume that by answering it this way. You are showing that you are in demand and that they did better offer a good salary to attract you?

As for answering question in interview IMHO you should answer ASAP. I answer all my question ASAP but depending on the question i would ask them to clarify it as to not to give the wrong answer. Because sometime they will give a very confusing question.

Good question. But I heard from a radio talk show quite some time ago ( Hitz.FM) One of the guy that interviews ppls all the time say this. English is important. He has candidate requesting him to conduct interview in malay and the candidate is a degree holder. He said that the guy has discredit himself the moment he ask for interview in malay. So i would assume that english is important.
